Brothers! It’s so great to see all your smiling faces again. You did it. You got through the whole work week and now you get your reward: another Flashgitz Friday! I know how you people just love production updates- and by “you people” I mean patrons! Lovely, handsome, generous patrons.
This week, we spent more time refining the animatic. While the other departments keep animation going for the beginning of the episode, we’re spending the week trying to lock down everything for episode 3. We’re essentially in the same stage of production as when we were in episode 2 when we changed up the whole ending. You know the part where Chestnut hardens his resolve to defeat the Brood Mother? We were originally just going to make her kill him and just keep the series moving without him, but we changed it because of the potential backlash. TLDR: We’re fine-tuning Episode 3’s animatic, so sit tight and take a peek at what we’ve had to deal with this week.

So yeah, lot of animatic related things that we’ve been up to this week, but we’re going to get it all wrapped up very soon. In the meantime, check out what the background department has been conjuring up.
Submissions have been pouring in from all directions of the department. It’s no surprise, really—while we’re still fine-tuning the animatic, our background artists have been steadily turning in more and more completed pieces. As a result, we’ve recently seen a noticeable uptick in the number of colored backgrounds making their debut in the pipeline. Here, have a peek.

A force-field. The potential is a bit more limited, but we can still probably fly a plane through it.

These backgrounds are looking fantastic. The team is really showing off with these latest one. But you know what else is looking fantastic? The animation!
As animation continues, we’re going to have quite a bit more to show you guys. Clips are continuously being reviewed and uploaded, and there’s gonna be a lot of clips! (At least 20 minutes of animation, remember?) This means more eye candy for you in the coming weeks! Take a look at some of these clips you can expect to see in episode 3.
