Hello you lively deviants,
Playtest 004A will run from 17th of March (Next Tuesday) - 19th of March
Playtest 004A will be about testing Dialogue - there will be 4 Dialogue Types - and you will find the NPCs from left to Right - these are just randomly assigned functions of each NPC for testing, not necessarily what these NPCs would do.
NPC 1 - Options to Choose From
When you interact with this type of NPC, they will have the same starting line, and provide you 3 options to choose from. These options don't do anything and will show a placeholder menu, and close the dialogue.
This NPC you can walk away from mid conversation and it will close.
NPC 2 - One Line, but random line
This type of NPC will only have one dialogue line, however they may have multiple lines that could potentially be played when you visit them ("i.e. Hi, ho are you?" once, and then "Hey good looking the next time"
This NPC you can walk away from mid conversation and it will close.
NPC 3 - Multiple Lines of Dialogue
This type of NPC will want to say multiple things to you in a single conversation. (i.e pressing enter will proceed to the next line of dialogue)
This NPC you can walk away from mid conversation and it will close.
NPC 4 - Main Story and or Quest Based
This type of NPC will have multiple stages of dialogue. Where NPC 3 may have multiple lines, the difference between NPC 4 is that the NPC 3's lines will just repeat. Where as the NPC 4's dialogue lines can change to the next stage of the quest or conversation once conditions are met.
NPC 4 will have instructions on how to progress the "fake quest" (you will just be pressing a button the keyboard) But once done they will say something different. But if you haven't completed the step they will just repeat the stage of dialogue they are at.
This NPC you CANNOT walk away from mid conversation.
So these are the 4 dialogue types I could personally think of, if I have missed any that don't necessarily fall under these 4, please let me know. But ultimately, I want you to test and try and break how these 4 NPCs interact. For example, did you progress the quest of NPC 4 by spamming a button, did one of the NPCs just fail to interact at all. In short, if they don't interact as I have mentioned above, I'd love to hear your feedback.Sorry I wasn't able to get this playtest out sooner also, hope you can forgive me.
