Context:
An oddly familiar hallway. A voice that resonated through the halls echoes in her ear as they approach their destination. She hums a jolly tune despite the looming fate that’s about to befall her. It baffles Nel how can someone still remain positive regardless of her situation. The taller woman asks the smiling beauty walking right beside her as to why she can still be in high spirits. With a scoff she responds with a rather sarcastic reply, “Oh sorry about that Would you like me to plead my case to you then?”. Nel turns to her to see her hold a playful smile as she replies to her. Normally Nel wouldn’t entertain such people, especially those who feign ignorance in the face of death. Yet something deep inside her wants to keep the conversation going. Their dynamic is unusual, that’s for sure. An assassin and her target. Or rather, her alleged “target”. Nel had doubts whether or not she was truly her target in question. She seemed normal, too normal to be targeted by her client. Which is why they’re in this situation in the first place. She needed to make sure if she’s found the right person or not. Throughout their dreadful walk to her client’s office, a sense of familiarity wafts within Nel. Her mannerisms, the way she speaks, her sarcasm and the way she smiles. All of them were visions that Nel had seen before but she can’t explain it. But then, all of her questions were answered the moment she said the words “It’s not your fault, Nel…”. Suddenly, Nel was back to her usual reality. The afterlife. Her very own space. Devoid. Empty. Without the warmth that she was once with. Just…what…was that?....
