I spent most of November finishing 50 Ways to Live in Minecraft – Rank Tomatoes and then spent the last week working on 50 Ways to Die in Elden Ring. I now have over 90 ideas for 50W2DiER clips and am in the process of planning out the logistics of how I’m going to record the best 60 of them (for those of you who are new, this is how I’ve always planned the production of 50 Ways to Die videos).
The overall production plan for my channel is to spend every other month working on 50 Ways to Die in Elden Ring and to make a smaller video each month in between. So last month, I said that after Rank Tomatoes was done, I was going to give 50W2DiER a full month of my time before I worked on any other video. But then I realized that if I did that, work on the next semi-monthly small video wouldn’t begin until December 22nd, which is too late to make a Christmas video.
And so, since making a Christmas video in December and making one more video that comes out before the annual January Ad Drought kicks in both seem like good ideas, I’m going to get straight to work on what will probably be a Christmas-themed 50 Ways to Live in Minecraft instead of working on 50W2DiER. I don’t know what it’s gonna be about yet (besides Christmas), but since my “small” videos keep going way over schedule, I’m going to try to keep it simple. From now on, I’m going to aim to make 50 Ways to Live scripts less than 5 pages long, and have less than 3 locations, and less than 4 characters.
At the end of October, I explained that jumping straight into the next 50 Ways to Live at the beginning of every month has led to the Elden Ring video getting neglected, which is why it’s been over 7 months since I finished Elden Ring but I’m still in the pre-production phase of my video about it.
So to make sure 50W2DiER doesn’t keep getting eclipsed by 50W2L, once I’m done with the Christmas video, I’m going to give 50W2DiER 8 weeks (2 months is about 9 weeks, minus the 1 week I just spent working on it) of work before I work on anything else, since that’s what I’ll, for lack of better term, “owe” it for skipping to the next 50W2L.
