In 2024, we released The Real Jon Snow – the biggest ASX video ever, and one of our best.We made weekly videos and livestreams about House of the Dragon Season 2.We did weekly livestreams about Dune: Prophecy on Quinn’s Ideas.We chatted with Raya Golden and Abigail Thorn.And we had lunch with George R.R. Martin!
Meanwhile, Alt Schwift X and Glidus released a mind-boggling 82 hours of Westeros talk. That includes HOTD “Dragon Time”, the epic Fake Jon Snow, and three instalments of their bewildering Ranking Food series. Schwift also, inexplicably, made a Jon Snow rap.
In 2025, I want to focus on Dune, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
We have four big Dune videos in-progress:
The Dreamer of Dune, about the extraordinary life of Frank Herbert
The Philosophy of Dune, about the themes and meaning of Frank’s Dune books
The Real Dune Part Two, comparing the Dune Part Two movie to the book
Fighters of Dune, a shorter video ranking the best warriors in Dune
These videos are inter-connected – learning about Frank helps me to better understand Dune, which makes all these videos better. We’re going in deep, so it’s taking a while! But these are big exciting videos, and I can’t wait to release them for you.
Also in 2025, the second Game of Thrones prequel show will begin – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George Martin’s Dunk & Egg stories. The Dunk & Egg stories are smaller and simpler than Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. So I expect our weekly videos will also be shorter and simpler. (I feel that our 30-minute-plus HOTD S2 Explained videos were too long and inaccessible – long-form discussion should just be in livestreams/podcasts).
We also have ASOIAF and HOTD videos in progress. And I’m curious to cover George R.R. Martin’s non-ASOIAF work… And someday I’d like to make more big ASOIAF character videos, like The Real Daenerys Targaryen… And I might cover other shows, like maybe Severance…
But for now, the main goal is to finish those Dune videos!
