Now it’s time to prep for House of the Dragon Season 3, which starts on 21 June. I’m thinking of making a HOTD recap video and/or a “HOTD vs The Books” video.
In July, I’ll attend the new Mad King play in Stratford-upon-Avon! The play is about the Harrenhal tourney, and I’m excited to see what it reveals about Rhaegar, Lyanna, Ashara Dayne, Howland Reed, Brandon Stark, and Robert’s Rebellion. Glidus and I will record our first impressions of the play, and post them here for Patrons! I expect we'll make a Shift video about the play itself, and maybe also some interviews...
Because we’re travelling for the Mad King play, we’ll do less coverage of House of the Dragon Season 3. This season, we won’t make weekly Explained videos about HOTD S3. We’ll still do Alt Shift X livestreams. There’ll still be “Dragon Time” chats with Glidus and Schwift. But no weekly Explained videos.We’ve made GOT Explained videos for ten years now – covering every episode of every GOT show since Season 6 in 2016. Ten years!! I love the Explained videos, and I love HOTD. But I don’t want to do the same thing over and over forever. I want to make space for fun new creative challenges. So that’s why we’re covering The Mad King instead of making HOTD S3 Explained.
I also want to focus on finishing our long-awaited Dune videos: “Faces of Dune”, “Fighters of Dune”, “Philosophy of Dune”, and “The Real Dune Part Two”. (Meanwhile, Schwift is making a “Dune Lore Iceberg” video). I plan to re-read and re-study the Dune books, then finish the videos before the movie “Dune Part Three” comes out in December. (I also want to finish the “Real Planet of the Apes” video!!)
So that’s the plan for the rest of the year.
