Mia's Junior Year:

Volume 2: Chapter 6-

Upon waking up, Mia couldn’t remember exactly why, but she knew she was annoyed with her boyfriend. Maybe her irritation was because it was always the same old thing with Trent. During the week they’d text, meet up for sex and sleep overs, and occasionally spend some quality time together either directly prior to hooking up, or afterward before going to bed. The weekends were even more predictable, meet up, party, hook up, go their separate ways, rinse and repeat. As Mia slowly awoke from her Saturday morning slumber, cuddled up next to her trophy of a boyfriend, she couldn’t help feeling a little more like a f*ck-buddy than a proper girlfriend each and every time they went through the same familiar motions.

Partying, dancing, drinking, and having sex were all fun activities, and Mia did enjoy doing each with Trent, but something was beginning to feel like it was missing from their relationship. Things weren’t bad, she just wanted their relationship to be something more serious. Her physical chemistry with Trent was better than it had been in all her previous relationships, the way the man looked and felt simply drove her crazy. Crazy enough that she was willing to overlook the fact that she’d had better emotional connections before.

But maybe that side of things just took time to develop sometimes, and she needed to nurture it a little bit more. Perhaps spending time with Trent outside of parties and the bedroom would help alleviate her newfound misgivings about him. Certainly they had a good foundation of mutual attraction in their relationship, maybe all that other stuff would come later as long as they worked on it. So, that’s what Mia decided to do.

“Good morning sunshine.” Mia whispered in her boyfriend’s ear, as she cuddled up next to him, “Wanna do something today?”

“Right now?” Trent hummed in a sleepy, yet horny, tone that seemed to convey to Mia that he thought the ‘something’ she was referring to was just sex. So, she decided to spell out exactly what she wanted.

“I mean like get dressed and grab brunch or something somewhere.” Mia explained more explicitly, placing a hand tenderly upon his firm chest and admiring his musculature.

“You’re hungry? Didn’t you get enough to eat last night at Denny’s?” Trent skeptically replied, as he wrapped his hand around Mia’s waist and gave her bloated stomach a teasing pat or two, before muttering a grossed out sounding, “Eww what a food baby.”

“Quit playing, you joke too much.” Mia scoffed, using her other hand to pull Trent’s away from her swollen stomach so he would cup her breasts instead. Embarrassment was causing her heart to beat faster than usual, not wanting to dwell on Trent touching her softened midsection and teasing her for it, Mia muttered, sounding a little hazy on the subject, “We went to Denny’s?”

“After the party, Randel and Casey wanted food, Dillon suggested Denny’s and you cheerfully oinked that you wanted pancakes.” Trent recalled shaking his head with apparent disappointment.

“I don’t oink!” Mia growled, thankful that it was dark enough in her boyfriend’s room that he probably couldn’t see her blushing, but a little concerned with her drinking lately. Blacking out a week ago, browning out yesterday, getting that drunk wasn’t supposed to be a weekly thing.

“You do when you’re wasted. You’re a glutton when you’re smashed. Did you know that?” Trent continued causing Mia to feel increasingly flustered.

“I… I am not. I don’t remember any of this.” Mia replied dismissively. She wasn’t used to any form of criticism from the men she dated, but even worse it sounded like when she was wasted her brain switched into chow down mode regardless of who was around. How embarrassing... She really needed to take the drinking down a notch from now on.

“You were pretty drunk. Ate like a slob too. I’ve never seen someone your size pack so much food away. You better be careful otherwise you’re gonna get fat when your metabolism gives out on ya.” Trent snapped back in such a tone that Mia couldn’t tell if he was teasing in a joking kind of way or in a critical sort of warning fashion.

Either way, Mia’s response was the same. With a strong sense of denial in her voice, Mia growled, “I am NOT going to get FAT.”

“Settle down. I’m only teasing.” Trent sighed clearly not wanting to turn this conversation into a fight.

“Yeah? Well, I DON’T like IT.” Mia snapped in bratty fashion.

“Then don’t make such a pig of yourself in front of my friends. Problem solved.” Trent muttered in an annoyed tone clearly mimicking Mia’s.

“Ugh!” Mia scoffed too irritated to formulate a sharper reply. Her boyfriend looked like a man, but he acted like a child sometimes.

“What?” Trent questioned seeing he’d struck a nerve.

“Forget it.” Mia huffed, before thinking it over another second or two and then changing her mind, “No. You’re pissing me off AND you pissed me off last night, but I can’t remember why. Apologize.”

“Okay? I’m sorry for pissing you off just now. I’m sorry I pissed you off last night. And I’m sorry you can’t remember why I pissed you off last night. Happy?” Trent repented without much conviction in his voice. Still though, his capitulation was enough to cheer Mia up slightly.

“What were you all talking about at Denny’s?” Mia wanted to know, trying to remember what Trent had done to get on her nerves last night.

“While you were stuffing your… I mean, enjoying your food?” Trent managed to catch himself.

“Yeah.” Mia sighed willing to ignore Trent’s little slip of the tongue just now.

“I don’t know. We talked about a lot of things. Sports?  Umm… Randel was going on about something… Oh yeah, we were sharing walk of shame experiences.” Trent successfully remembered.

“Oh yeah…” Mia recalled, as the memory from the previous night suddenly came flooding back to her…

“So a while back, I’m talking winter break freshman year, my friend Matt and I drive a couple hours to New York for New Years Eve. We got our fake IDs so we hit some bars. I hit it off with a girl, so we headed off on our own and stayed the night at her place. Next morning, I wake up, get dressed, and head out into the kitchen. I almost sh*t a f*cking brick because who is sitting at the table? F*cking Matt. We, completely unknown to each other, went home with girls who happened to be roommates.” Randel bragged, while his current girlfriend sat next to him looking less than impressed.

“I bet the resulting high five was thermonuclear.” Dillon smiled offering Randel a high-five, which he shamelessly accepted.

“Yeah, I hope the four of y'all had breakfast with each other and had a four-way when you were done.” Casey groaned, clearly not impressed with Randel going on and on about previous conquests.

“The important question is, who got the hotter one?” Trent interjected wanting to know.

“Why does that matter?” Mia muttered with her mouth full, only to be ignored by Trent’s friends.

“I did, his girl was thick and chunky, but after swapping stories the plump one my friend was with was way better in bed.” Randel revealed with a shrug.

“That’s hard to believe.” Trent scoffed.

“You gotta give big girl’s a chance dude. They’ll BLOW,” Randel paused to wink at his friend, before putting his hand around his pudgy girlfriend and continuing, “your mind if you let them. Right babe?”

“I am not a big girl, ass.” Casey seemed to almost laugh.

“Debatable.” Trent muttered taking a sip of water.

“Trent!” Mia growled at her man blown away by how rude he was being to Casey.

“F*ck you dude.” Casey replied to him, shaking her head and flipping him off. All things considered she was taking his insult far better than Mia would have in her situation.

“What? All I’m saying is, to each is own. Nothing wrong with liking chubby chicks.  It’s just not my thing. Don’t hate on me for having a preference.” Trent blurted quickly in his defense.

“What if I was bigger? Would you still date me?” Mia asked looking to him for an answer.

“I’m surprised you’re not bigger from how quickly you’re destroying those pancakes. Holy cow girl haha!” Trent laughed, spring his friends, even Casey to join in at her expense.

Snapping back to the present, Mia couldn’t remember if he’d actually answered her question or if he’d just avoided it by teasing her. Either way, she stored her partially reclaimed memory and burst, “You were acting like really rude at Denny’s!”

“If I was, I’m sorry. I was pretty drunk.” Trent sighed, not really seeming to care.

“And how come we always have to hang out with your friends? Huh? What about my friends?” Mia insisted, as Trent seemed intent on deflecting.

“Your friends are always all over the place. And you and Kate are always at each other’s throats.” Trent yammered.

“I want to do something today. Like a real date. No alcohol. Just you and me.” Mia demanded craving some control over her man.

“What do you want to do?” Trent muttered seemingly not too enthusiastic about the idea of spending time with Mia outside of the bedroom.

“I suggested brunch.” Mia reminded him.

“I’m not hungry.” Trent shot down her suggestion.

“Then how about we catch dinner and a movie?” Mia replied thinking fast.

“I’m pregaming with the guy’s before we…” Trent began to make an excuse before she cut him off.

“What’s more important? Spending time with me, your girlfriend? Or pregaming?” Mia raised her voice, proverbially putting her foot down.

“Let’s compromise. How about we do dinner, and then you pregame with me?” Trent replied seeking to negotiate.

“I want to pregame with my friends. So, let’s do an early dinner, and then meet up later. Okay?” Mia prattled, accepting her boyfriend’s compromise.

“Okay. Where do you want to eat?” Trent questioned, as Mia rolled away from him and got out of bed. All he could really see of her in the dim light of his bedroom was her big butt bending over to pick up the tight outfit she’d worn the night before.

“You decide, and don’t disappoint me.” Mia ordered, as she pulled up her undies, threw on her bra, and then turned to Trent to ask, “Mind if I borrow a sweatshirt? It’s cold outside and I didn’t bring a jacket.”

“Go right ahead. See you later then I guess.” Trent replied before resting his head back down upon his pillow and closing his eyes.

“See you later.” Mia replied, as she went to Trent’s closet and picked out a large grey hoodie. It was a little old looking, but it was big enough that she could certainly wear it like a dress, which was great because she was bloated enough this morning that fitting back into her clothes from the night before would have been too much of a struggle. After slipping into the baggy hoodie, Mia threw her messy hair into a lazy bun, and hurried to give Trent a tender kiss goodbye, so he had something to think about until later.

*MWAH!*

Since the cafeteria was closer than the house, and she was hungry, she decided to fuel up before heading home. Since it was a little after noon on a Saturday, Mia wasn’t worried about people seeing her looking so disheveled. The cafeteria was usually a ghost town on Saturdays since everyone usually had better things to do. Athletes were often away playing their games, people made plans off campus, the only people who usually attended the cafeteria on the weekend were generally from the lower rung of the campus hierarchy, but not exclusively so.

For instance, when Mia ventured into the cafeteria, across the baren wasteland of the largely vacant room, she spotted none other than her friends, all sitting together, looking far more put together than she was. Not skipping a beat, Mia quickly set out to join them.

“Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in. Did you stop by for some food on your walk of shame?” Jessica snickered as Mia approached her friend’s table. Mia’s shortest friend was wearing fashionable knee-length khaki-colored boots, a matching khaki-colored turtle-neck sweater, and a complementary plaid skirt which the sweater was tucked into. The outfit really highlighted the brunette’s yoga-toned pear-shape.

“Guilty as charged.” Mia laughed, before looking at Kate and Lara and asking, “What’s your excuse for being here on a Saturday?”

“Don’t look at me. Lara wanted to talk.” Kate explained, snuggly squeezed into one of her sweater dresses.

“Didn’t you get my text message?” Lara questioned, while wearing white jeans and a yellow polo top that seemed to show off the fact that Lara had firmed up her frame a noticeable amount since the semester started and perhaps dropped a little bit of weight along the way. Of the two blondes sitting at the table, it was Kate who now appeared to be the pudgier of the two.

“Sorry, I think I put my phone on do not disturb.” Mia smiled, as she lied through her teeth. In truth, she’d ignored Lara’s message, thinking it wasn’t important.

“You put your phone on do not disturb? What were you and Trent doing??” Jessica chirped sensing gossip that didn’t exist.

“Having fun.” Mia embellished, playing along, making eye contact with Kate, and then deciding to embellish a little more at her expense, “A lot of fun. Oh my god, I’m surprised I can still walk straight.”

“Alright, go grab your food and shut up.” Kate snapped her fingers, not enjoying Mia bragging like this to her face, “Lara was just about to tell us why she wanted to meet up.”

“Alright, I’ll be fast. Be right back!” Mia waved before heading over to see what the cafeteria had to offer on a Saturday.

It was slim pickings. The burger line was still open, but that was probably the only warm food line that appeared remotely edible at this point. Not craving an overcooked piece of meat, Mia grabbed a bowl full of fries and instead headed over to the cereal section and helped herself a bowl of coco puffs. However, not satisfied that cereal and fries would be enough to hold her over through one of Lara’s longwinded rambles, she also made herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before returning to the table, tray of food in hand.

No sooner did Mia sit down than Lara began to air her grievances. This time they were sorority related. Specifically focused on Casey’s lackluster leadership, ever since she started dating Randel. Kate and Jessica interrupted a few times to ask questions, but Mia just listened and ate her food. She started with her cereal, after all, she didn’t want her coco puffs getting soggy. Soggy cereal was just the worst.

It didn’t take long to munch away the chocolatey breakfast cereal, Lara mentioned something about Casey getting impeached, but Mia’s brain was focusing on something different. Internally she was debating if it was worth it to chug the rest of the milk in her bowl now, or after she had consumed the other food she’d selected for herself. She hadn’t grabbed anything to drink, other than the milk for her cereal and the salty nature of fries did tend to make her thirsty, plus peanut butter was a nightmare to eat without anything to wash it down afterwards. So, making up her mind, Mia moved on to her peanut butter and jelly sandwich next, since it was a smoother taste transition from chocolate than fries would be. She eat the fries after her sandwich and she’d save the last of her chocolaty milk for after she’d finished her fries. In retrospect it probably would have been better to eat her fries first when they were still warm, and then the sandwich and then the cereal, but mistakes were made.

While Mia scarfed down her sandwich, Lara continued dominating the conversation. It was only around the time Mia was finishing her fries that Lara finally seemed to be nearing the end of her thoughts. That’s when Mia started to pay closer attention.

“So, that’s why we all need to go to the Lota Kappa Phi meeting Thursday evening.”  Lara emphasized, as she finished making her case to her friends.

“Is it really worth impeaching Casey as president though? Are we even allowed to do that?”  Mia asked, as she finished off her bowl of French fries and wiped her hands on the grey hoodie she had taken from Trent. She’d wash it before she returned it to him anyway. If anybody said anything, she could just blame the grease stain on Trent since he was a guy, and it was his sweatshirt to begin with.

“Were you even listening? Casey is going to be impeached Thursday no matter what. Emily organized everything. We just need 60 percent of our members present and then need a majority of them to vote in favor of kicking Casey out of office. It’s a done deal. Casey wants to spend all her time with her boyfriend, that’s fine, but since she’s not doing her duties, she’s gonna get replaced.”  Lara explained, while she played with her salad and stared at Mia while she picked up her bowl of chocolatey milk and began to slurp it down.  Lara had never seen Mia do something like that since she’d met her. Where had Mia’s table manners gone today?

“Mia, we’re talking about who’s going to be the next President of the sorority.”  Kate added, recognizing that her annoying rival wasn’t really paying Lara her full attention. Although, it was nice seeing Mia stuff her face in front of everyone. It was as shame the cafeteria was so empty. It would be even better if Mia made a pig of herself in a more populated public place.

“Yeah, whoever shows up to that meeting on Thursday could be our new chapter president.”  Lara explained, as she tried to emphasize the point she’d made earlier that Mia seemed to have missed.

“That’s actually a great idea!” Mia chimed in, having finished off the last of her milk, “Then we can elect ME president and I can work out tons of date parties with the frats!”

“I actually meant we could elect… me.”  Lara muttered under her breath.

“Yeah, but let’s be real, do you think you would win out over people like Jane or Emily?  I’m the most popular, everyone loves me.  If I run, I’ll win, for sure, and you can help me get done everything you want too!”  Mia explained, as her mind began to think about dessert.

“Mia has a point.  If she runs, she will win.”  Jessica agreed, while she tried to look sympathetic to Lara.

“Yeah, but it was Lara’s idea, she should get to run.” Kate argued, as she straightened her posture. The last thing Mia needed was more power. Her ego was already out of control.

“Lara, what do you think?”  Mia asked, as she looked at Lara with a confident stare knowing her timid friend would never dare cross her.

“It is okay, you’re right.  We have a better chance if you run.”  Lara said, looking a bit disappointed and defeated.

“I thought so.  Anyone want dessert?”  Mia asked, sounding cheerful she’d gotten her way.

“No.”  Kate muttered, annoyed by the fact Mia had just so casually succeeded in making a big power play.

“No, thanks.”  Lara added still sounding disheartened.

“No, but I could go for some fries. I was going to ask you for some, but you finished them super-fast.”  Jessica said plainly with a nudge to her friend’s elbow.

“Sorry, I worked up quite an appetite with Trent earlier.” Mia lied yet again, as she made eye contact with Kate and enjoyed the fact it obviously bothered her. Even though Kate was dating somebody else, clearly it still hurt that Mia had beaten her out for her previous crush.

“Do tell.” Jessica replied, as the two of them got up and began making their way back over to the food stations.

Kate got a good look at Mia as she walked away.  Her hoodie covered her upper body and even managed to stretch over her growing butt.  Even though her booty was concealed, Kate got a good glimpse of it wobbling and jiggling as she headed for dessert.

Then there was the fact that in comparison to Jessica, Mia’s hips looked like they had widened since the beginning of the semester. These changes were subtle, and would probably go unnoticed by most casual passersby, but Kate could see that Mia was filling out, week by week. Soon, she’d be able to turn the tables and have her revenge. Until then, she’d just have to keep playing her part.

“What are you looking at?”  Lara asked, breaking Kate’s trance.

“Just at little miss perfect sporting some, not so perfect, love chub.”  Kate confessed, as she turned to Lara.

“Love chub?” Lara asked, a bit curious.

“Oh, you know.  It’s when you’re comfy in a relationship and put on some weight.”  Kate explained, while she tugged at her sweater dress trying to stop it from riding up.  As much as she hated to admit it, she was a little too fat to pull off the look the way she used too.

“Trent and Mia seem pretty happy together.  I guess I can see what you mean.”  Lara admitted, “I’ve never seen her eat cereal the way she did today. I guess she is getting comfortable.”

“You should see the way she pigs out at home when nobody’s watching. I’m surprised that big butt of her’s isn’t twice as large.”  Kate gossiped unable to resist verbally bashing Mia behind her back to make herself feel better.

“Some people are just lucky, I guess. I feel like I gained five pounds just watching Mia demolish those fries.” Lara shrugged, clearly not sure how to reply to what Kate was saying. She wasn’t one to speak ill of her friends behind their backs like Kate was doing.

“Yeah, Mia’s real lucky…  I have a question for you.  Are you okay with Mia always taking the spotlight?”  Kate asked changing the topic.

“What do you mean?”  Lara replied, sounding interested.

“I mean, don’t you want to run for president?  You would be way better than Mia. Heck, if Mia wins you know she’ll just have you do everything for her, right?”  Kate explained, as she cast a look to the lunch lines to keep a lookout for Mia’s return.

“Yeah, I do want to be our chapter president and I probably care way more about it then Mia.  But you know as well as I do that I’ll never win if I run against her.”  Lara lamented, as she dropped her gaze to the table.

“Why didn’t you tell Mia how you really feel then?”  Kate asked, leaning closer to the table and bringing her voice to a whisper.

“I don’t know.  I guess I was a little bit scared I’d piss her off.”  Lara admitted, as she remade eye contact with Kate.

“If Mia is our friend, then why should we be scared to be honest with her about how we feel?”  Kate continued, as Lara looked perplexed.

“I...  I’m not sure.”  Lara muttered, while she remained lost in thought.

“Think about it.  In the meantime, if you had one wish to resolve this situation, what would it be?”  Kate asked, looking more serious.

“Well, I really wish she would forget to go to the meeting, then I could run and see if I really could win.  That way I wouldn’t have to run against Mia.”  Lara pondered out loud.

“Lara, you shouldn’t be so shy about confronting Mia, but if I make sure she forgets to go to the meeting, would you do me a favor?”  Kate spoke, glancing again at Jessica and Mia slowly making their return to the table.

“What favor?”  Lara asked, quickly as she also eye’d Mia’s return.

“I just want a little help with something, but it might take me a few minutes to explain.” Kate assured her.

“Okay, I could do that.  You would really do this just because I want to be the chapter president?”  Lara questioned a bit skeptical.

“Anything for you Lara, that’s what friends are supposed to be for!  So, you promise to help me out if I keep Mia from attending that meeting?”  Kate asked with a bit of urgency.

“Promise.”  Lara accepted, while a little smile emerged from her face.

“Then it’s a deal.”  Kate said, as they watched Jessica return with fries and Mia return with a bowl of two brownies on top of some vanilla soft serve.  Kate and Lara merely gave each other a secret look of approval as they resumed their normal conversation at the table and watched as Mia and Jessica continued eating.
