But now the car is relatively trustworthy. Not that it really needs to be for my purposes but I am glad to have it sorted. You might also notice it now has new tires... I haven't put the wheel covers on yet since I'm thinking that'll be a nice thing to include in the next Cube video. It could use a lot of spiffening up.
Oh and now I know for sure that (at least) the front left wheel bearing is bad. That position had the baldest, gnarliest tire and I thought there was a chance the noise I was hearing was just from the tire. Alas with new tires the noise is much quieter but it's still there. I'll look into how much of a pain replacing wheel bearings will be on this car, and if it seems like something I can handle myself I might make some content out of it.
