Ceiling fans have a fascinatingly weird history
You'd never believe a video on such a simple thing could go down such a rabbit hole, and neither did I when I started making this, but here we are. I really have no idea how this video will be received but it's a very fascinating story which led to a current reality which really kinda sucks.
I'm working on captions at the moment via Premiere and hope to have at least decent captions up in the next hour-ish.
NOTE: The render for the Patreon version failed, and it will take Patreon forever to encode the YouTube render if I upload it, so rather than make you wait I am posting this now and will update the post with a direct embed later. If you're among the folks who like to watch videos here and not on YouTube, check back tomorrow. I won't have Patreon send a new email to avoid confusion.
This was one of those topics which I thought would be a quick in-between-the-car-videos thing and the fact that it turned into what it did has led to a very frustrating couple of weeks. For some behind-the-scenes context, the final part of the video where I discuss what I believe are likely misguided energy standards was not working at all. I realized in the edit that it needed a severe re-work and re-shoot which is the main reason I only got this finished now.
Thanks for your patience, and I hope you like this. There really isn't a satisfying conclusion which has been torturing me but I think the problem with this topic is... well giving advice is next to impossible.
