DESCRIPTION

The preview of Universal Remote, an addon that can let you control virtually **anything** in Blender, with a game controller. In this .zip file, you will find three .blend files to try the addon on, and a .zip file of the addon itself. This .zip file should be installed first. This addon works on Windows ONLY.

Here's how to set it all up:

- Install the addon

- Plug in a controller

- Start a session in the `Universal Remote` side panel

And that's it! That easy. If you plan to use a PS4/5 remote, you'll need to download DS4Windows ( https://ds4-windows.com/download/ryochan7-ds4windows/ ) to make it compatible with Windows' XInput API. You'll know if a controller works if an indicator shows a solid white circle next to a controller index in the Controllers drop-down panel.

You are allowed to use 4 controllers at max, with each controller having an immutable list of inputs to use. Only buttons, triggers, and joysticks. You can create a set of binds through bind-sets to determine what a controller's input value should go towards. Then you assign this bind-set to a controller. Each bind has a data block, property path, and index field to point towards the property you want to change, with an expression to modify the input's value. It is highly recommended to have knowledge of Python for the best experience. But if you just want to play around, just plug in a controller and start a session.

The demo .blend files consist of a Wheatley puppet, camera navigation, and a scout puppet.

Wheatley uses L+R joysticks to move, L1 to move the handles, and X+L2+R2 to close the eyes.

Camera Navigation has basic joystick movement with X+R3 to move up and down.

Scout Puppet has a movement assigned to every button on a controller.

Expect a hit in performance. Blender is updating itself at a user-defined polling rate. It can update between 1-100 times a second. If you feel performance dropping, lower the polling rate.

Please don't share this! Have fun and let me know what you think!
