Even when you don’t feel like it
DESCRIPTION

Even if you end up having one of those days you don’t feel like doing much for yourself, even something as simple as preparing or getting a meal for yourself, please still *feed* yourself. Feed yourself, feed your body the nutrients it needs to keep you doing good on the inside and the outside even when deep down inside you’re not feeling your best. Help your body be there for you even when you might not want to be there for you. Invest in your health, it‘s a relationship that doesn’t betray you. 🤍

I’ll expand upon this daily reminder that Lav is asking you to please take care of yourself with love, with a personal hack. As I am having one of those days myself, as much as I feel prompted to kick off another day with the same routine, drink water, drink tea, make a meal to break fast, etc. I can’t bring myself to make anything as I don’t see myself eating anytime soon, the appetite isn’t there. I know it’s because I have a lot on my mind and my plate and to add another thing (despite it being a *good* thing, like eating a meal) just seems unnecessary and kind of stressful to think about. But, knowing taking care of yourself is a good habit and discipline not to be broken just because you feel moody some days, this is what I do for myself.

I make a smoothie!

To put it short and simple and sweet (just like this process),

  • It’s takes less than five minutes, maybe even closer to one minute if you’re super speedy and everything’s in arms reach! 😆
  • It always tastes good.
  • Results are always reliable, never a bad batch to disappoint and make mood worse.
  • Vitamin C is not only a great nutrient for you but essential in helping your body to combat stress, which in my case is often an appetite-killer. Two birds with one stone!

  • Colors and flavors make me happy. Especially really pretty colors you don’t often see day-to-day, like this berry blend’s rich, dark color.
  • I can have a lot without guilt. I typically make a little over 24 oz and drink that. One sitting is usually enough to down it, but in the few times I’m just not feeling up to anything, I’ll just have a few sips and leave the rest or drink half and save the other half in the fridge for later. I consider this a bonus because you won’t have the excuse later to not nourish youraself since it’s already prepared.
  • It’s take and go! Wherever you go, it goes! A great pickmeup for when you’re on the go or need to be somewhere else and not sitting down with utensils in your hand. (Or in bed, let’s be real.)
  • It’s an easy thing to prepare for other days too if you have bottles.
  • You don’t need to use fresh fruit all the time (it gets expensive anyway), when frozen fruit is just as good! If not better— since I don’t even put ice when using frozen fruit.
  • Speaking of frozen, that cool sensation of a chilled smoothie is something I find relaxing and provides a great opportunity for mindfulness moments. 🤍
  • I like the feeling of the vibration on my hands when holding the blending, as well as the loud sound that drowns everything out for a bit. I despise loud and jarring sounds but this is one exception that’s grown on me for this reason specifically. It’s like it takes away the pressure to have to listen to / for anything for a minute. 😮‍💨

Today’s smoothie that’s saving me is completely milk-free, just 2 cups of water, a scoop of collagen powder, 2 tbsp of chia seeds, 3 pitted dates, a cup of pineapple chunks, a cup of raspberries, a small handful of red and green spinach (taste goes undetected 🙃), a few strawberries, and some blueberries and blackberries.

It makes me happy to know that even when just taking care of myself isnt a good enough reason to at least make a smoothie to drink, there’s a small handful of other good reasons too. To name a few, it tastes good, makes you feel good, it’ll make you taste good(er) and it’ll make you feel good to know to makes you tastes good(er).

(I only put the parenthesis on “er” because technically it still matters what other things you eat. 😝)

I hope this helps someone for a rainy day. Especially if you tend to have rainy days in the plural. 🫠🤍
