Hi all,
Today I'm going to be discussing one of, if not the most important dynamics in the game: the one between our MC (Named by player) and Abigail Rhodes (sorry Lydia, you're still important).
As shown in yesterday's character spotlight and alluded to in the past, Abby's role in Pulse's story is multifaceted. She meets MC early on, and the two keep bumping into each other, awkwardly stumbling through meet-cutes each time. Without going too deep into scene specifics, the first time the two meet is at Shirley's tavern, where they share a surprisingly insightful and tender conversation. The two go their separate ways (without even learning each other's names), and the moment lives rent-free in MC's head until the two meet again.
At least, that's when the two of them think they first met.
Their first meeting is on the rooftops of the west end of Neo Nysa, with MC/Pulse's recon on The Pack's activities being interrupted (quite violently) by Abby (aka Jackal Jill, The Jackal, The Queen of the West End, JJ, etc.). What follows is an ongoing conflict between these two, their alter egos, and their budding (unknowing) friendship (and more...?). Hiding their real selves from each other, while being unaware of what the other is hiding, is central to their dynamic, and as Abby and MC grow closer, JJ and Pulse may grow more and more hostile.
While you (the player) play as Pulse, you are given access to perspectives and information that he does not have access to, including Abby's perspective. Abby acts as the secondary POV character in this game, and is given her own narration, ongoing storyline, and perspective. You'll be given insight into the villain's perspective, and the complexities behind the city's gangs and their motivations. This will largely be eased into, and most of the game is still told from Pulse's POV, but Abby's POV will be a recurring feature throughout this story.
