Welcome to the Squealer Colony!

Celsius Strays is a new, "Premium" visual novel project, made by COWCAT Games (creator of BROK the InvestiGator) in collaboration with Austin Schmidt (Patch Works Interactive).

The goal is to make a high-quality visual novel inspired by Japanese Adventure VNs like Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, with:

A deep, emotional story that explores the weight of leadership in a world where there are no easy answers,

Choices that genuinely impact the story and lead to very different endings,

A unique command system that puts you directly in charge of leading the Squealers

Puzzles,

Animated characters with dozens of unique expressions all fully lip-synced,

Fully hand-painted backgrounds from artist Max Wilson,

Voice acting,

Brand-new soundtrack,

Interactive environments,

Localizations,

and more!

Although this is a spin-off from BROK, featuring some characters that appeared in that game, this is a totally separate adventure set before the events of BROK the InvestiGator.

IMPORTANT: About subscriptions & development builds

Unlike many other community-supported visual novels, this won't be a free game:

Today we are releasing a free demo, available exclusively on Steam for a limited time.

After this, only subscribed players will get development builds. These will be released on a regular schedule (TBD as we get settled into a rhythm, but we're aiming for updates every 3 months or so) and may either include a new chapter, new art, new functionalities...depending on what is worked on.

The development builds WILL include temporary art and assets. Bug fixing won't be a priority either.

We will stop releasing new chapters in development builds after a certain point. This is in order to keep surprises for the final version! You will still get updates for the available chapters though.

Anyone who remains subscribed for at least 3 months (charged 3 times by Patreon) will be eligible to get the game for free at launch.

The higher "Squealer" membership gives access to our secret stream on Discord where you can see the magic happen and participate with us directly! We will attempt to do one of these each month, at least. You will need to remain subscribed to keep access.

Every subscription directly helps us fund the development. While many assets are handled in-house, this Patreon will help us to fund additional art and music for the project. Even if you can't afford to contribute financially, we'd love to hear from you! All feedback and comments from fans are very motivating for us as we push forward in development.

About the demo build

For now the demo is exclusively on Steam and for a limited time.

The voice acting is temporary for the demo. This is to represent how the final game should be, but is susceptible to change for the final version, including the voice actors.

The menu UI will be fully redone. The game is developed with our own BROKVN engine, which is also still in development and gets new functionalities & fixes progressively.

The demo is PC + Mac only, but we aim at releasing it on other platforms such as mobile (iOS and Android). Same platforms for development builds!
