Patreon does it again, folks. Just so you know, I can't update the links on my "about" page at the moment. Some of you used these to get the latest versions of my games, sorry about that. For the time being, just use the collection tab or the new posts. Oh, and if for some reason, you would see a blank instead of the main page - thank the big P.
To illustrate the point, here is a pair of screenshots. As you can see, the "about" page looks normal from the browser. At least at the moment of the screenshot. There are links, text and pictures - as it should be. Now, check out the "edit page" screenshot. That's the place where I manage the "about" page. Like updating links for the latest version of the game. Do you see any difference? That's right, there's nothing there... In their eternal wisdom, Patreon fucked up yet again.
You know the best part? While I was trying to figure out a way to either get the last page layout or force the edit window to update from the current view of the page, I got an email from Patreon. Elly wanted to share with me these 5 easy steps that will help my support grow by up to 58%! Thanks, Elly! That's great. Awesome. Elly, do you know what else can help my support grow or at least maintain a certain level? A working main page that serves as a showcase of my work to potential players out there! But it's just not in the cards, huh?
I made a ticket in Patreon's support. No idea when and if they manage to fix the issue. I already had the pleasure of describing why using paragraphs in HTML can't be a substitute for line breaks when these bloody idiots decided to "upgrade" the engine... It took them only two months to process it and make the fix. So... If the main page will die, just use the latest posts and the collection page. These are working (sigh) for now. If all else fails, contact me via [email protected]
The funniest moment - I have the backup layout saved in a local file from the last Patreon's fiasco, bu-ut here the catch - how the hell will their site react to a brand new update to the main page when there's a clear difference between the code I see in the admin section and the real website? Somehow, I don't wish to explore the possibilities... Actually, now that I think about it, I would rather pay Patreon not for the great updates they force on me, but for not touching anything and just keeping their hands as far from the code base as possible...
Oh, and if you'll see smoke when opening my Patreon page - don't worry. That's either my ass on fire or the smoldering chair below it.
