UBTL v4 and UBTK v2 Patreon Releases
Reminder if your GPU is:Nvidia -> Download the CUDA version of the UBTL-Server app (Flash Attention enable after RTX 3XXX cards) .AMD -> Download the ROCM version of the UBTL-Server app ((Flash Attention enable after RX 6500 XT/6500 and younger cards)AMD or Intel GPUs in general -> Download the Vulkan version of the Server (Don't use Flash Attention on this one). Please put/paste your provided ubtl.key file into the Configs Folder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IVWkGWfktMAlso forgot to mention if you are still using discord, the current link for the server is:https://chat.nx34.xyzUpdate May 12thFor some of my newer followers which found me from the F95 Forum from my Tenioha 1/2 and "My..." game translations releases may know that I posted that my Dell Workstation PC which I have been using for nearly 3 years decided to one day just literally stop working ironically just the next day I released the first translation release of the My... game, further giving it the vibe the whole thing is cursed as the game plot is, either way I was pretty much effectively unable to work or update anything until I tried to get some replacement parts to get a working PC again during the worst period in time to get anything non moderately modern PC wise to not be upcharged to damnation and didnt help I had my mother's birthday recently so I couldnt just go get whatever stuff I could buy to get me back online and be left with money to buy her the usual meal + birthday cake + some gift.I scrapped together some money and got me the cheapest x99 motherboard (to be able to reuse my ECC DDR4 sticks since I sure as fuck will not be able to buy ones at how uber upcharged these are lately) that I was able find off Aliexpress, the Soyo X99-P4
So yeah, Im somewhat back online and I pushed some newer updates, that including the most pressing one being a newer fix for the UBTL-Client, third time is the charm, right? Also if you are having issues trying to use these programs, drop me a message here or on discord, I know these programs arent so streamlined/simple as "Just click to run this" and then:
But I cant know if you are having issues if you dont tell me in first place (please for those that have message lately, I didnt replied to you because I already mentioned my working computer effectively got fucked suddenly, not because I was ignoring you)In other news, I will both really need to figure out a way to streamline users getting their keys when getting the full version because I totally had issues lately keeping up with some users because how dogshit Patreon system is on that regards and they arent planning to fix it really since the platform is clearly built mainly for subscriptions, not final sales, that is just a bonus to them by the looks of it.Also a way to let users know and/or get some of newer games translations stuff outside of Nyaa or F95 or anyone that reuploaded my stuff out there so yeah... I guess I will be busier than I am again.Update April 23thWelcome to Uncle Bane Amazing Digital Update Circus ( UBADUC ), where you can enjoy the rapid deteriorating mental health of your UncleB as He tries to squeeze the most performance out of the highly purposely limited tech we have been sold for a while while being charged 4X more times for it now.
In other news too, I think I updated and fixed enough the UBTL-Client, UBTL-Server and lastly the new addition to this project, the UBTK Translation Tool for those messing with Translating Visual novels in a more raw, direct to its core scripts way.
Your UncleB here was trying to really try to get Server and by extension the LLM model to consume the least amount of VRam possible by quantizing the KV Cache into the near lossless q8 quants, maybe instead of loading the KV Cache into VRam, load/offload it into System Ram and many other things but at the end of the day there is a hard limit of how much you can optimize this to run decently well while also not make the whole damn thing a non-stop hallucinating simulator while only being around a 8Billions model that fits into a 8GB GPU on top of that and leave you enough VRam to still be able to play your interactive Thai Basket Weaving Simulator game.
In short I uploaded a newer finetuning of the translation model (v2.4) which shaved off some MBs of its size so now it even fits under Patreon size limit too as well an update to the UBTL-Server app with some toggles now specially the "Flash Attention" feature for those with any newer card after the Nvidia RTX 3XXX series models and in the AMD series the RX 6500XT and newer series. ( AMD/ROCM support is kind of spotty so if shit doesnt want to run, just dont activate Flash Attention, that is supposedly mostly optimization for those cursed still on using cards with 8GB of VRam.
Lastly the UBTK Translation tools for more in-depth organized manual-editing translations of supported Visual Novel engines and the works got a myriad of internal fixes and improvements, so I may be debating whenever make a whole paragraph expression my absolute hatred towards Wolf RPG Editor based games because it made my life absolutely miserable for 2 whole weeks, oh man do I am cooking myself on the hatred I got from trying to get this one particular one to work.
I know Im not talkative enough to let people know what is going on but it is also hard to post "oh yeah guys, I spent like 2 full weeks battling a god forsaken piece of putrid dogshit engine that somehow Japanese folks are still releasing shit for in current era and there is a chance there could be still some stuff that is bugged/broken that I havent yet triggered so you better be careful about it, lololololol" and that isnt going over also stuff that turned out just broken and I finally decided to not ship/add to the projects because I couldnt make it work at the end despite the time spend on it.... so yeah I think I should stop the yapping works for now, for now Im finished uploading the Windows version of UBTL-Server and UBTK, I will try to upload thee Linux builds later.Update March 23thSome user reported me there was a "UBTL-Server name 'checknum' is not defined" error on the UBTL-Client and I fixed the issue, sorry if I havent being fixing stuff on a timely matter but without going full trauma dumping stuff there has been a lot of things blowing off on my face at once these past months. In other news the Glossary on the UBTL-Server got a needed update making the previous "UBTL CSV Editor" redundant being able to retire (dont we all wish that?)
I also added a Japanese Sound FX JSON Glossary file inside the UBTL-Server folder named "sfx-glossary.json" which you can load up if you want to give even more context to the translation model (though it is intelligent enough as it is) beware though that is a big one.
You can always delete the .json glossary files in the Config folder though if you dont want to manually delete entry by entry this behemoth. One of the big things I am looking forward to is how to skip the fucking lacking Patreon API that in their infinite wisdom they implemented a "Sale Post" feature about 3 years ago but havent been fucked to add an entry point in their API so users could automatically register things once they have purchased, I am still stuck manually creating keys and such and when my life just blows up on my face it can get like a marathon of fuckery so sometimes I can be slower or even forget about sometimes so I will like forgiveness on that regard. Update March 6thThe UBTL-Client was updated, it is one of those "looks the same but the backend got many changes internally thus why the major jumps of versions" type of deal, you can move/copy your current translation_record folder into this new to keep your previous translations.
Also I updated the UBTK Translation Tool with a new algorithm and the option for the users to choose which one to use:
MAJOR SOFTWARE UPDATE: MARCH 2026So anyone that wondered why I have been radio silent for more than 1 month specially about updates and such, I have been hard at working working for this massive major update now, the last UBTL v3 translation Tool has evolved into the Uncle Bane's Translation Kit (UBTK) Project, the UBTL Server program still around it just got completely rewritten from the ground up including new updated frameworks and such which not only add new needed features it is faster and actually looks better.
As mentioned already the new v4 program looks less like " A programmer made this barebones App™ " and instead into something a little more appealing, but also the backend code of it was completely rewritten and on that regard I found many flaws and blunders I did back when I rushed to get the initial release of this tool ready(ish) back in September and one of those flaws was the previous UBTL v3 Server was using llamacpp's (the engine that makes the UBTL-JP2EN model run and does it magic) default 4 parallel thread slots (n_parallel = 4) , in theory that meant it can process 4 translation requests at the exact same time, that's perfect, right? well no because the server (which has a default allocated 8192 context size of "memory") is defaulting to have then 4 parallel thread slots, so it divides that memory equally among them. This means each translation thread is only getting 2,048 tokens of memory (8192 / 4 = 2048) , now originally because we were just basically translating the current dialogue line + whatever glossary names/terms you had imported in that wasnt much text the translation model didnt needed much to work/translate on but.... the issue is that the previous client didnt had actual "memory" from the previous sent lines which helps the translation models get context of the current scenario/character talking and such which helps creates even more accurate translations SPECIALLY regarding Japanese that is a highly context heavy language at times. And by talking about this Context History feature there is now this part of the program that lets you dial in how much "memory" of lines of rolling context you want to give the translator to work with:
Now also when I talked about having a loaded Glossary for your current visual novel/game you were trying to live translated, one of the main issues were that you had to many make a list of the character names/Kanjis and so on and that could be such a chore to do
That is why
So instead of manually doing that go to you Glossary Tab
And all the tech magic to make your life easier is here:
" But UncleB, what if Im playing something that doesnt have a VNDB entry like something off DLSite or something else? "Well guess you will have to keep rawdogging it manually:
As mentioned before I said I rewrote the whole client and that helped bring in something I wanted from the very start of this project to do and that was have a Native Linux UBTL Server Client, originally made as a way to let users that like to self host/home lab on their own be able to run this program on their Linux GPU accelerated server and send their translation to it so they could still be able to play some more 3D games that require more than 1GB of Vram which is what is usually the most on average a user is left with when loading the translation model into GPU Memory in a 8GB GPU because in fucking 2026 we for some forsaken reason are usually still getting that Vram size of GPUs unless you spend the extra for the more VRam Available cards out there:
Oh right BTW! I made a newer finetune/update to the UBTL-JP2EN v2 translation model so that makes it the version v2.3 now which should have some improvements regarding the NSFW side of the model from what some people told me about having issues, so it should be better now I hope.... ALSO REGARDING PATREON TOTAL LACK OF INTEREST OF EVER ADDING POST SALES INTO THEIR FUCKING API FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS.I added Itch.io as a way to now to let users to login into the tool specially to all the users that has been subbed to me ever since September so if the accumulated amount of money from your subscriptions is now the same pricing as the current offline tool ($30 USD) you can now have access to the tool through Itchio even if you decide to no longer be subbed to me:https://ubtl.itch.io/ubtk/patreon-accessNow for the big announced tool that eat all my time for 2 months and gave me actual headaches and more (which I didnt had in years actually) :Lets talk about this whole new update thingy that gave me (literally) many headache to develop and such and that is the UBTK Tools. The UBTK Tools are targeted at those users that have wanting to use this project to translate games for redistribution and such, so I tried to make their lives less miserable and created this current version of the UBTK v2 Translation Tool:
Its currently optimized to work with JSON files ( so basically RPG Maker MV/MZ though it supports pretty much anything formatted properly as a JSON file) and TyranoBuilder with the option of load Custom Parser files ( .ubcp ) to load any type of text based script if there are clear ways of regex into it. You can use it to translate your favorite Chinese Basket Weaving Tutorial games manually if you want to in case you know the language.
Or you can do it the "modern" way and connect the UBTL-Server client to it and batch translate with it or use an Upcoming Online UBTL-JP2EN API Service for those that lack the time or beefy enough GPU to even run this projects in the first place.
So you can translate your favorite Thai Interpretative Dance Game Simulator without the need to have $2000 PC with a beefy GPU in it, especially in these interesting times regarding RAM and GPU prices, am I right guys?
That or You are part of the bunch of guys that have or are about to peace out from the never ending shitshow that is current modern Winbloats 11.
So then you don't have to worry about not being able to run my tools on Linux natively without having to fuck around WINE/Proton or anything like that. And last but not least:* PLEASE DO NOT USE iOS PAYMENTS ** PLEASE DO NOT USE iOS PAYMENTS *Not only that is more expensive for you to use, it takes 2 months and a half for me to see that money.
* PLEASE DO NOT USE iOS PAYMENTS ** PLEASE DO NOT USE iOS PAYMENTS *If you pay with this or have an Apple email from it I will just refund you instead than deal with this.
So where is the new UBTL Client video that you promised months go?The new UBTL Client Video was actually the friends We made along the way™You can also for now watch the original video while I try to finally make it now that thee misery of rewrite this whole project from the ground up is mostly done now....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IVWkGWfktM
