Hi everyone!
I wasn't sure how much time I would need during this break, so I prepared more bonus stuff than normal, and when I say 'prepared' what I mean is 'shamelessly stole from others'. Here's your swag:
A save file for Football Manager 24 with the Chester FC players from my story.
A file for the OOTP baseball game that has promotion and relegation.
Admittedly this is niche swag, but both seem like fun to me, and if I had free time I would definitely give them a go.
FM24 - Can you do better than Max?
Discord legend nid has long been playing FM24 with Max Best edited into the database, and he has kept adding to the simulation. Wibbers, Pascal, Peter Bauer, Vimsy, the Brig. You start with Sandra Lane. But can you keep her?!
If you would like to dive into the world of Chester in the National League North, with no money but a team of talented misfits, here are the files you need.
Inside this link is the database that you'll use, some of nid's recommended tactics, the faces of key players (especially Max!), plus a PDF with tips. Start with the readme file!
I think that's all you need. If there's anything missing or not clear, let me know and I'll sort it out! Have fun!
OOTP Europe
This is from MARLL on the Discord and it's based on the baseball game Out Of The Park.
MARLL writes:
"Hi all! This is a quickstart file for Out of The Park Baseball (OOTP). Like FM, OOTP is a sports management game, but obviously with a different sport. The biggest difference between the two is that OOTP has a lot more fog of war involved in player scouting. Players can appear like they'll become incredible and actually be terrible, and rarely the opposite can also be true. A players' current skill is closer but there's a margin of error there too.The default settings for OOTP are for the modern MLB, so theres 32 teams, 5 levels of minor leagues, and a big focus on the draft. This file is based in Europe with a 3 level promotion and relegation ladder with 16 teams per level. There are leagues in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany all with either those leagues' real names or names based on them. Here's a list of all the changes from a default game I haven't mentioned:
Each league level has half as much money as the one above (top has 40mil, second 20mil, third 10mil for example). This affects salary demands for all players.
European Champions playoffs for the top 2 teams of each league (split by level). Round robin where you play each other team twice and then the top 4 go to bo7 knockouts.
Everyone has access to the same pool of international amateur free agents (in FM terms these are your international wonderkids), and every team can spend up to 10mil on their signing bonuses.
Everyone also shares the same pool of normal free agents, so players can move up and down leagues.
Posting is on for all leagues, so players can ask to be sold to other leagues for a fee paid over 5 years.
Each league has a small 2 round "draft" with a largely randomized order, this is to distribute more local talent.
Trading has been disabled.
The time till players become free agents is just one year! And 3 years for players you keep in the reserves!
All this means is that there will be a lot of free agents every year, and signing them is the main way you build your team."
