Plus Lines and Flats.
I was far too wrapped up in getting this one done and forgot to take WIP shots of some of the stages while working on this comic strip. Fortunately, I had a few screen captures saved.
Firstly this comic was not planned at all, instead starting out as a small practice in anatomy and facial expressions. Originally I was going to stick to just the middle panel when I decided to render them fully, but got the idea to make a small comic with a start and finish. Event though they take a long, long time, comics are super fun as you get to add a bit of story to something.
At the time I'd really sunken into an art block. Lots of people moan about this online which comes off as an excuse to be lazy but they are very hard to scrape yourself out of when you're in deep. Basically, you just have to work a little bit by bit on each day till eventually, you get back into the rhythm of things. I was, at times just spending 1 hour per day from lack of focus, but it's something.
Also, the anatomy, perspective and hands especially on this were hard as hell for me and were really much-needed practice. I used a tonne of references of muscles for this which is probably why Roman looks so ripped lol and I still don't understand male anatomy well enough to make it subtle. However even if the struggle was real, it was at least fun.
And yeah, I get it, RnR banging is a new thing and might be a bit shocking to some. But I just felt fuck it. I wanted to make something a little spicy and do have a few more in mind and in WIP stage currently.
I actually didn't intend this to look so dominant or (I hope) too aggressive either. RnR are not like that, but when passions fly they do get quite raunchy and Roza knows what she likes lol.
I wanted this scene to encompass just one act of probably a few in one evening, maybe after a tentative 3rd or 4th date, or maybe a long work week, as they don't actually live together, just on weekends.
If I'd had time or energy I could have depicted a few more (intimate) scenes for another page, but you'll have to wait for my other works, hopefully I get another done this year!
Overall I think this could have taken me 40+ hours to do. Certainly feels like it took me a month at least. Shocking how long comics take but I am slow as you know. Either way, Enjoy guys! x
