For those who are still unaware, I was planning to distribute characters Koikatu models and scenes during level 6 update countdown... Which is now!
Aside from releasing chara and scenes, I also wrote a short guide on how to install and start exploring Koikatu. But read everything before proceeding.
!!Warning!!
If you're new to Koikatu or Illusion games in general, and you want to go through this guide just to play with the model for an hour, IT DOES NOT WORTH IT.
- Koikatu can be played as a game, or used as an advanced creation tool. I'll provide a basic guide for installation and how to use the model, but nothing beyond that. Please do not ask for troubleshooting of every problem you run into. If you can't make it work in general, not just with my characters, then you can't make it work. Give up.
- At least 100 gb space will be required, mostly because of hundreds of mods included.
- You need quite a high end PC if you want everything to run smoothly, especially for CharaStudio.
It will take some level of commitment. If you don't think you're ready, do not jump into it. I warned you.
Basic game Instalation
1) Download the base game.
I don't think you need my help with that. For legal reasons I should tell you to go to Steam and buy the game, but it's up to you where you download it...
Important! You need to download the Koikatu(KK) game. Not Koikatu Sunshine(KKS)! Those are different games.
2) Goggle "Koikatu HFPatch" or just use this link - https://github.com/ManlyMarco/KK-HF_Patch?ysclid=mmdcfljvtw471392688
It's a patch with latest mods for Koikatu. It's being updated regulartly so everything is included. Follow the instalation guide on the GitHub page.
3) After the installation, your game folder will look something like that:
Open KKManager folder, then open KKManager.exe. In the opened window, find "Mod updater" in the top, and click "Look for mod updates...". Follow instructions to install the rest of the mods.
Installation is finished!
How to use chara and scenes
1) Download my characters and scenes:
Chara: https://mega.nz/folder/OIZlxZRa#_f4QCbd-SApHzk-5ku9xUg
Scene: https://mega.nz/folder/nBJjlLRC#KkGPMy0g5jZg8_19sSGD7A
Yes, they all are in png format.
2) For character...
Go into "[game]/UserData/chara/female" folder and drop your character there. Now you can find it in the game.
To check if everything worked as it should, open Koikatu.exe and in the start menu choose "Char Maker -> Female", then find "Load Character" and it should be there along with other characters.
3) For scenes...
Go into "[game]/UserData/Studio/scene" folder and drop your scenes there. Now you can find it in CharaStudio.
To check if everything worked as it should, open CharaStudio.exe. In the start menu find "System -> Load". In the opened window you should see all the scenes you have.
4) Other resources
Of course, there are thousands of chara and scenes you can find on the internet. You can just goggle "Koikatu card", but I'll provide you with a few links where to find stuff
https://db.bepis.moe/koikatsu - The most easy newbie friendly card sharing site. But to be honest, there aren't a lot of quality stuff.
To find something of high quality, I use pixiv:
But there are a lot of things locked behind the paywall, and sometimes it's just confusing how to make it work.
Things to note
- There is no such thing as "futa" in the game. I 'strap' the dic separatedly for each scene. The dic model is included in the scenes.
- If you want to share something made out of my models, please credit me.
- If you have any questions about the guide, I would highly recommend using Discord for this.
I think that's all. Good luck to those who'd dare!
