I'm not sure when it started, but at some point last month I started getting messages from users that the site was down. I would check the site and it would be fine and working normally. As far as I can tell it still is. That said, for reasons no one has been able to pinpoint, some users can't access it depending on a variable set of conditions.
First of all the baseline fix that I have found with my phone is to access the site using wi-fi. It seems to work perfectly normally on every device if accessed over a wi-fi network.
Everything past that is just speculation from various users, but here it is:
You can add more DNS thingies to your DNS thing. (I do not know how to do or explain any of this.)
Sometimes using a different browser will fix it. Chrome seems to be one that doesn't like the site at the moment.
Adjusting your VPN setting helps some people.
Turning off your VPN for the site helps some people.
There are probably other things but I can't remember all of them.
I hadn't experienced any of this because I only ever use wi-fi to access the site unless I leave the house and I hadn't been anywhere in months. Recently I have left the house a few times and tested things. My mother's phone, which is much newer than mine, can access the site. My Iphone SE can't. No changes will fix it that I have tried. It simply can't do it and I don't know why. Over wi-fi it's perfectly normal but over a cellular signal it won't work.
So there it is. If you happen to be an expert at these kinds of things I welcome your insight.
I have absolutely no technical understanding of the internet anymore. I haven't studied anything to do with any of it for over a decade, so I can't troubleshoot outside of very obvious baseline things. If turning it off and on again doesn't work I have to go find an expert.
Just as sort of a general note, if you contact me with some kind of technical issue please include anything that might be useful information. If you only say the site is down I have nothing to take to anyone who might be able to help. Things like your location, browser, device, VPN, or what have you might be something that could help if I can also find help.
Anyway, in summary, you should be able to visit the site over wi-fi regardless of platform or device. If anyone was having trouble I hope that helps you. I'm sure at some point the site will just randomly start working over cellular again. I had the exact same issue with TFWiki a while back and eventually it sorted itself out.
