Man, December is always a train wreck. I went in thinking I was going to get ahead of the game and get stuff done before the last day of the month and every time I sat down to do anything extra something happened. To the point where it felt like the universe was picking on me specifically. Logically I know that the universe feels nothing about me, and yet...
The friendship ceremony idea overlapped with the previous month and bled into this one a little. I sometimes avoid those kinds of crazy ideas, but I couldn't let it go. I very much like Beary Fun Pizza as a setting and giving it a little more was nice.
This was a very outside the store heavy month. Expanding the locations outside of the store gives me room to tell more story without being locked into the rules that govern their jobs. Plus each of the other locations have a character all their own. Which is kind of ironic since my art rarely shows much of the actual setting. In my head it seems very clear, but I don't really show you guys much since it takes so long to build detailed backgrounds.
Anyway, I allowed myself to "take a break" and make a puppet comic for Xmas. It's kind of funny that my idea of taking a break is drawing characters in costumes I would obviously not have on hand. It seemed like it would be faster than a normal page but it wasn't and I drew 75% of it in a moving vehicle.
You can talk shit about my work, and people often do, but you have to admit I'm far more dedicated to it than your average webcomic creator.
I will try to get some small token of extra art posted before the turn of the year this evening but I'm going to stress TRY. I'm barely keeping it together after the yearly upheaval of the holidays. If you could see the disaster that I'm sleeping in right now you would be ashamed of me, and for me. I may try to catch a little nap and then think of something to draw.
Double anyway, I hope you have a nice new years and also that your new year greets you kindly and with success. In spite of my instincts I am trying to be hopeful for 2026. I will turn 50 in March and the comic will turn 20. I really didn't think I was going to last this long, so every year past this one will be a bonus... Arguably.
