Fantastic Voyage was one of Hannah's favorite movies. The idea that you could learn more about the human body by being inside of it fascinated her. Then the Magic School bus came around and it excited her even more. How could this not be a real thing?
She even studied being a nurse so that when the technology came around she would be one of the first to be a tiny little scientist flowing through the pump of a bloodstream. Traveling at speeds that would feel astronomical compared to how she traveled before.
Eventually they had announced the camera system, so she could wiggler her way inside the body with that and at least treat it like a video game which was exciting, but not the same. It was like she was watching a movie about being a nurse rather than being a nurse.
Then the moment finally camel, she had been re-watching Innersapce for the billionth time when it was announced. Micro-shrink technology had become real. They've tested it on animals and now it was time to see if humans could withstand the technology. Of course Hannah signed up immediately, and got in!
She thought she would show up, they would shrink her and bing bang boom she'd be in a bloodstream in no time. But no, she had to go through almost a year of astronaut training first. She had to endure the speeds of a space rocket.
After all the training it was time for them to show her what she would be traveling, it was a red and yellow pill, easily swallow-able by a toddler. It was hard for Hannah to wrap her head around it. Something that size? She would be inside it? It made her dizzy and excited at the same time.
As soon as the pill was placed on the table Hannah dove for the chamber and locked herself in. “Turn it on!” yelped.
The doctors and scientist told the head of the company no, but Hannah would not unlock the chamber. Not until she was a tiny little thing. Every time they opened the door she just closed it again, the only way they were getting her out of there was if they shrunk her down.
So they turned it on.
At first it looked like she just disappeared, like they had nothinged Hannah out of existence. But then they heard the little squeaks and squeals. The door opened and they heard the squeals running before they spotted Hannah. Another woman stepped into the chamber to located her and while they were looking around the door slammed and someone accidentally nothinged her out of existence too.
But now that they were both smaller than a pea. And she could see Hannah running, naked as a jay bird for the pill. That's when the other woman noticed she was naked too. And she ran and caught up with her at the pill.
The two women looked at each other than up at the scientist. “Well?” Hannah screamed at a high sounding shrill motioning toward the pill. “I'm waiting!”
