“Clerics of the Lunar Cult worshipping Amihan as all Ambrenoyr do, Fen-fathers (exclusively transmasculine, as Amihan was, and for some reason, mostly otters) are bearers of his holy word, roaming Ambrenoyr to bless boats and sailors alike, working in tandem with their local jjast-binders to engrave any hull or mast that needs it for the perilous journeys across the Uterine Ocean.

Fen-fathers are born-again from the swamp, where they’re buried alive for a month by their Order. What rises anew is half-ysleria, half-carcass - invaded with mud and rotting vines, lungs (or what’s left of them) ever-filling with the swamp’s brine foam, eyes and fur both caked with salt and bursting with dead coral. 

Their bodies now fused with the sea-bog itself, they bring it everywhere they go, and are the reason Ambrenoyr ships do the same.”
