Download the archive, extract the .patch file and place it in the same folder as the game file(s). The file works the same on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook - we don't have a single actual case of it not working on any system whatsoever, so if you're having problems, just make sure you're reading this properly and if need be, check out the troubleshooting FAQ before contacting us needlessly.
You can check whether the patch is loaded correctly in the in-game "Stats" menu (press 'M' for menu once you're past the title menu, then click on "Stats").
