DESCRIPTION

Work might slow down a slight bit, I'm doing some stuff with family tomorrow that'll take all day, but luckily, so far, the pace has been quite quick regardless.

-What's new?

-Mechanical room puzzle works 100% on a technical level. All that's left for the pool room/mechanical room is to implement route differences, such as a playable Ruby section, Alexandria's schemes, and a ghost hunter escape and search for ghosts.

-Fog. Fog. Fog is a lot more complicated than people might think...The main problem I was having is creating a seamless picture, meaning if you place 100 above and around one picture, they all line up with no creases or seamlines. I figured it out...somewhat. I'm sure there's an exact science to it that I don't have the privilege of knowing yet, though. Fog is a big factor in this game and will appear in important locations, such as the manor's exterior, backyard, mechanical room (though, that's technically steam...) And so on. I also want some sort of effect going on in the tunnels. Though...I wouldn't lie to my friends...So it's best I'm honest with my reasoning for developing more dynamic fog...

Truth be told, EFVM is no longer very challenging to me. I can (like I've said before) sort of just slot things into the game now. Luckily, this means it's mostly just art from here as far as challenge and time consuming elements, however, it's not without its downsides. I've been thinking about a secondary project, or another game, if you will. I already know what I want to do and all the mechanics I want. Things to spice it up and make it way more fun and interactive. I also need fog. Lot's of fog. However, I will NOT be starting it while working on EFVM, so no worries on me spending less time on the game. I'm just trying to hit two birds with one stone and further one aspect I can use again later, even if its minor. Side note/fun fact, the fog outside of the manor is done through a very long picture which is moved/slid across the screen to an exact coordinate, then looped back to the beginning. It's not perfect, but the method I have now moves the fog better, just with seamlines if done improperly. I think it looks way better, BUT, I will not be replacing the manor exterior fog. I think the game has grown into it and it's a good reminder of where I started. It ain't broke. So I ain't fixing it. We have enough unnecessary changes in videogame remakes these days...

-If you want to know what some of my future plans are, they may become books hidden in the manor.

-I could've sworn this was in the last devlog but it doesn't seem to be...The map for the servants quarters is done. All that needs to be added is the puzzle, meaning theres only one more map required for the next build which is one of the bedrooms.

-What's next?

-Finishing the mechanical room (Jayce and sam tied back to back, a game over, Ruby's section + a game over for her.) Servant's quarters puzzle, upper left hall puzzle.
