Hello everyone. It is the first of May. Let us hope that RL is less annoying this month. To elucidate for those who don’t bother checking my Ranma posts, I was unable to work on FILFy at all beyond outlining the next chapter due to a series of Real Life issues.
To wit: my computer died on me, and I went without it, being forced to use a computer at my local library for a little over a week. Curse you, Windows. Even now, Grammarly is FARRRRR slower than it should be for a mere word add-on. Like, it freezes every few seconds. I have no idea why. My car died on me. That was expensive. My central A/C broke on top of the heating going a bare week later… again, expensive. And then a family issue, which took my parents out of the state leaving me to help my brother and his wife with the toddler while prepping for the in-laws and the next baby, who is only a few months away.
The in-laws are here now. Might be called for driving purposes, but hey, my car is back in working order, so that’s good.
Essentially, I lost three or even four days a week to work on fics, when normally I’d only lose two days a week at most. So yeah, it was a horrific week in terms of fic-time. Admittedly, I could have done a few days more on FILFy if I didn’t desperately need to update the Effect chapter from March, but that chapter was anemic it demanded more effort. And then the Journey chapter turned out to be 12,000 more words than I expected.
To that end, I will be attempting to get out…something for FILFy by next Saturday. It won’t be one of my normal huge chapters, and it won’t be edited by any beta-reader (Nad Destroyer still hasn’t gotten the last chapter back to me!!!!! GRAAHHHH) but I am serious about wanting to push that fic to it’s freaking conclusion this year.
There will, however, be a HP poll this month, as I don’t want to spend more than a week on that project. That poll will only have Magic and Fate on it, as, with all the editing, formatting and so forth Bhaalson takes, it always takes more time than I assume. I will vote for Fate there unless my votes can give Journey the win in this poll, since that would let me go back to my neat 2 Ranma, 2 HP fic ideal which I haven’t been able to do in a long while.
Anyway, with all that said, here’s the Patron Poll. Before that, of course, we need to know where the odd duck, Heroes of the High Seas will go. Like last month, I use https://rolladie.net/ to decide this. With three polls this month again, I’ll use a nine-sided die. 1-3 –will mean it will join the Patron Poll, 4-6 the Ranma Poll, 7-9 the HP poll.
… it was a 7. So it will join the HP poll. Hmm…that would really screw up my planning though… eh, whatever. C’est la Vie. Besides, after last month I am not gonna complain about something so small.
Anyway, the choices for the Patron poll are:
Climbing Together – Ranma/Street Fighter/King of Fighters crossover: A short jaunt across the ocean goes smoothly, with the three lovers arriving in Hainan easily. Finding a place to set up the Toughness training doesn’t go so well, as Mai attracts unwanted attention. This, however, leads them to create a slightly more sophisticated setup, unaware that the group they have already tangled with is connected to other, more dangerous enemies. This becomes readily apparent when Vega makes a return, nearly killing Shampoo and Ranma via ambush. Mai holds off the currently-unpaid assassin for a while. Ranma and Shampoo, battered and bleeding, show up with rage in their hearts, only for Vega to once more choose the better part of valor after leaving Mai something to remember him by, swearing vengeance on Ranma and the two ‘flowers that must be plucked while they are still beautiful’. This forces the trio to make a quick escape, with all three nursing injuries but in no mood or place to deal with the local authorities.
Death’s Avenger – HP/World of Warcraft crossover: - Harry and his companions wing northward, heading home, during which some moments make things a little tense between dragoness and chimera. However, any such thoughts or ideas go out the window when they stop one day and Harry’s messenger tube glows. Speed becomes of the essence at that point, while Harry comes up with ideas of how to transport large numbers of Unseen Path members without treating Versera like a beast of burden. Meanwhile, Tyrande and her companions are filled with horror as the Unseen Path tells them what they faced deeper in towards Vordrassil. An experiment follows, which elicits a response, forcing a hasty, and bloody retreat. Distance plays to the kaldorei strengths but the campaign is very much in doubt for a while until aid unlooked for arrives. Dragon fire proves a great deterrent to everything, while to the south, Harry and company arrive at Trueshot Lodge to find that the small valley’s entire population is ready to go to war, greatly expanding Harry’s resources. The Harpy/Path alliance travels to Northrend, dealing with unexpected attacks by rocs and being shot at by vrykul before finally arriving and following their map, heading to Vordrassil.
… Yeah, I realize this doesn’t end this arc as I wanted, but the flashback of Davo and the rest, the planning needed to transport people, and the fact I realized I was making the enemy too passive forced some changes. So there will be another chapter after this before DA goes on hiatus for a few months as I do long term planning.
This poll will end on the 11th. Climbing Together will be getting the full carry-over of half its votes last month, 686.
