Welcome welcome! To the show notes for our episode about all things Ouija. In 90s Spain, at least.
Now of course we gotta start by clearing up those intro questions:
Do ghosts follow ghost law?
Probably. I mean how else are we getting headlines like this:
And more importantly, how do planes stay up there? Well folks not only is the round-earth not real (and don't take it from me, take it from this guy who makes realistic 'globes')
What I'm trying to say is, gravity isn't real either! That's right, any paranormal investigator worth their salt knows that gravity is only a theory. If it were fact, how would you explain any of these cats?
That is some highly paranormal shit. It's also for another day!
Although I do have to bring up the Government Mind Control Chemicals lining Rory's glass during recording. Sorry, I should say Alleged Government Mind Control Chemicals. (Phew, almost got taken out just now. Remember, if you say 'allegedly' it ain't illegal!).
Here's the photo he took while recording.
Now how did it get there? Was he really drugged? Is the commune really a cult? Did I drug him? If I did drug him, would anyone ever find out because let's face it it's my word against his? Did I subconsciously want to get caught so I'm writing about it publicly to out myself? We may never know!!
Do let me know your own ideas on that subject, in the meantime: back to the matter at hand - the story of Estefania, in Madrid.
First up, here is what Estefania looked like. RIP.
God bless her.
And here's what I imagine, at least, the local police looked like.
What? Of course I didn't just lift a photo from Narcos... OK so maybe I did. Hey I heard that show was pretty realistic!
Here you can see the photo of Estefania that was burned (not by police).
And I even have a photo of the actual police report filed by Spanish police.
Now I don't remember enough Spanish from GCSEs to be able to read this, so it's anyone's guess, but it probably says "holy shit, absolutely paranormal. no idea what's going on. straight up bonkers bananas nonsense."
But pretty cool to have an original report! I'm starting to think if I had actually shown Rory this I might have stood a chance of getting a 'yes'. Hrrm.
Now the other section of this investigation to talk about is the iPhone app Spirit Board. A great low-cost alternative to buying an actual Ouija board!
And even safer because if you do unleash the portal to hell and demons are crawling over your house; if you had an actual board you'd have to destroy it! With spirit board you can just delete the app.
However, if you're going to buy a genuine board, I have to recommend the Bowieja Board. The only Ouija board specifically designed for communicating with the late and great David Bowie.
Shout-out to Twinnovation Podcast.
Now, if you want to read further on this case, you can grab some (admittedly tabloid-y reports at the following links! Maybe there's better Spanish coverage out there.
And again, there seems to be a tonne of Spanish language stuff on YouTube about this, including interviews with family. So, y'know... if you know the language!
