Welcome welcome welcome, non-cursed (I hope) humans of Patreon! To another edition of show notes.
As always just to wrap up the questions from the top of the episode:
What crime has Bigfoot committed that put him into hiding? Other than having great bangs, I don't know.
But I did find this Unabomber-style diary entry online, supposedly written by the Sasquatch himself:
For a non-human-hominid, his handwriting is pretty good.
But I'm most concerned that he appears to have gouged out the eyes from this image of Chewbacca, and also peed and/or puked over it (those aren't coffee stains, folks. Bigfoot doesn't drink coffee. that's cryptid 101). So I think he might be on the edge, about to do something he would regret.
Also, this is presented without comment. I do not know what's going on here. This is like stock photos gone too niche.
...Anyways! On to the matter at hand! Lake Baikal.
The lake itself is one of the largest in existence, but certainly the deepest!
That's pretty mf deep. Not as deep as our poetry at the end of this weeks episode, though.
For real though it's giving me borderline panic attacks thinking about going down that deep, even if there were no humanoids waiting for me.
BUT. It is an incredibly beautiful location, too. Feast your eyes!
Are you kidding me? I would picnic the shit out of that little rock beach. We're talking dips, chips, maybe even a couple cold ones. That thing is looking straight relaxing!
Oh. Alright... alright we could still picnic, but like: stew, and instead of cold ones, maybe we should have hot ones: AKA boiling coffee.
Enough about that, let's get to the sights.
Here are the actual petroglyphs we talked about on the pod:
Some general ones, very old and very cool!
And here is the specific one Rory ragged on.
See what I mean?? Forked tongue?? Spikes on his back?? holding the sun or something?? Bird my ass!!
Also how is this anything but a horrifying water beast?
It truly strikes fear into the hearts of men.
What do you guys think? Overhyped bird or Dragon Water Masters? Lemme know!
Now what about this claim that Jesus visited the lake himself? It seems pretty out there. I think I said on the show that Jesus didn't really travel anywhere. But I might have been wrong.
Did you know that there's a period of time called the Unknown Years Of Jesus where we don't know where Jesus was from the age of 12 through 29? Read about it here!
I mean, that's a pretty long time. Some believe that he did actually explore the Persian empire through this time, with claims of having visited Iran, Egypt, and as far away as India (and if your Mormon, America!). However I haven't seen many claims of him having visited Russia or Mongolia.
Personally I find it amusing that Jesus potentially took a 17 year 'gap year' and it's not physically impossible that he visited Lake Baikal. Maybe there's more to the legend...
Now we better talk about underwater humanoids. I'll be real, I'm glad we called this one a 'no' because as soon as you try to dig on these 'declassified documents' reported widely as the source for this claim, you just hit anecdotes.
In fact the closest thing I can find related to this is this WIRED article about declassified soviet UFO sightings which is pretty cool! But yeah, no humanoids that I can see.
But you know I won't leave you hanging! here's the video we watched of finding the grey in the snow!
Now that's mf evidence boiii!
I would say if you want to read further into individual UFO sightings and so forth, here's an article in Siberian Times!
https://siberiantimes.com/other/others/features/f0077-aliens-and-ufos-at-worlds-deepest-lake/
So I know there isn't a dearth of physical evidence on this case, but hopefully you still enjoyed this episode! I know I enjoyed researching. Hell, I want to visit now! Jesus style! Did you know you can drink the water in the lake? (If you want to turn into a humanoid, I suppose).
Anyway drop a comment below if you want to know anything else! Otherwise we will see you on Tuesday for another brand new paranormal tale!
