And for my last act of the year...
Here's my draw pile. It's not all that I drew but the stuff that didn't sucked so much. Just random stuff and silly ideas that I feel work better in a pile.
So from right to left we have, oh look! Vero didn't take on the offer for Donnie to set her up with someone but I guess she did take the offer from Nicole and, Oh no! It seems the date isn't going great. It started well and while unfortunately he read his calendar wrong and forgot there would be a full moon tonight and I guess their careers are kind of incompatible, they actually are looking for different stuff right now. Oh well…
This one's not canon, or at least not for the moment because I've mentioned I have conflicts with werewolves in the Whisperers world but I had fun with it. I guess Nicole also wants to give Vero that license #GiveVeroHerLicense.
Second we have the Owl! Even though some attempts were made I don't think I've ever given her an official name. Because I don't remember it. But she's one of those old characters that I've kind of forgotten but I feel like I could figure out and retake this next year. What you need to know is that she has a curse, and in order to break it she has to hunt dragons. She fights with a cool scythe and she's good but she hates it and is scared most of the time.
Then, Oh! What do we have here! Vero has been so focused on her date she hasn't noticed she's been followed by an incognito Max, a couple of tables away, who's been stalking her for some time while plotting her revenge or something.
And of course next to them is their date Lana who they brought to go unnoticed and who is just not suspecting that this might not be a real date. We all of course feel bad for her but the only interest listed on Max’s tinder was “Sweet Revenge” so there were clues.
I haven't decided if this is the route for Max moving forward, probably not, but it is an option and a funny one I think.
She's of course a shape shifter so she would usually be harder to spot than this. But who knows lol. Just now while writing this I'm realizing I should have colored this one. Oh well. Maybe next year.
Aki! The love interest of Khun, the Cartographer. Then and another one in this thing are a group of characters I'm thinking about but rarely draw for some reason and I don't know why. She's the daughter of farmers and wants to join the revolutionary army.
Frank and Amber! Both fresh out of work and still with the “uniform” she comes out of the bar she works at and he with his Romeo costume from the play he's been performing. Nerds dating creatives is a theme in my work but normals dating performers is also a bit of a trend I'm thinking.
The owl and the witch. Coming back to the dragon slaying owl from before here she is with the witch that cursed her. More on them eventually maybe.
Nicole and Ian. The mysterious paranormal investigator and her uhhh… buddy… for now. I was trying to draw them in something like a scoody doo style but I'm not sure it comes up that way. Maybe if I make the whole gang or something.
Then there's just a Diana sketch I really liked.
And then there's her and Lola taking a ride on Lola's recently fixed moped. A thing that's not clear from the Savoy Truffle comic is that even though that day was a disaster Diana and Lola actually liked each other very much and still hang out from time to time as friends.
And Diana is pretty sure she's over her crush with Lola… most of the time.
Lola is going to appear in a comic I was working on but it's pending because I realized it didn't worked chronologically and I needed to make another one before and then I got sucked but my new year's resolution is that you guys will read that comic the year is over or else I'll be kind of sad for like a day or something.
A bird being mesmerized by the abilities at that stick thingie of his friend, the mouse. Both are high of course. This one was actually the first one I made, while getting in the doodling mood and it amuses me pretty much.
Den, the con man! The de facto mentor of Khun, who is kind of funny that I didn't draw here. He goes around from town to town scamming people. He has no political allegiances and morally pretty gray, but he seems like a nice guy otherwise. Looking after his friends and all that. He and Aki are like the angel and devil over Khun’s shoulders.
And finally, have you ever wondered how Zara would look with hair(feathers?)? Me neither until I drew this. I was going for something messy, like shorter on one side than the other. She's a rockstar after all. But don't worry, I am not considering starting to draw my characters with hair anytime soon.
And that'd be it for now. See you next year!
