One of her many adventures has led Tatiana to México once again, where she decides to lay low for a while and spend some quality time at her old friend Damian’s art studio.
The word friend here doing a lot of lifting, or maybe no lifting at all.
I guess she's making some memories to take with her when she goes back to the action.
An oldish thing that I finally finished recently, there were some details I wanted to fix for some time, of our favorite couple of early XXth century artists. And the second(ish) adult picture featuring the Alex and Taj’s universe of characters. For which I’m starting to think I need a better name. Lol
At the very first this wasn't going to be a Tatiana Damian picture. Originally I just came up with the concept of the picture and composition and my first idea was to come up with new characters for it.
But then I thought, is there a character of mine who is in a relationship and is already known for being a photographer and always carrying some type of camera?
And after that I realized, yeah! Of course, there's this kind of obscure character that at this moment I've drawn like 4 times and the design changed drastically between the two I've actually posted before. Perfect for this!
I had a lot of fun with this, specially figuring out Damian's living space with the artist angle. Taking the time to create all the art studies that he keeps around his studio. Many of which I changed multiple times as they stopped convincing me.
Many of these were just to make the bunch more varied. First I drew them understanding that it was going to be an adult piece but then I thought it was weird that he only had nude naked model sketches, so I started adding some more stuff like architecture studies and other scenes.
One of downsides of being a fictitious artist is that your abilities are limited by the ones of your creator I guess. Though abstracting the world where they exist helps a bit I guess.
Being his place, obviously Damian's presence dominates in the scenario, but I also tried to add some of Tatiana's in the composition. For example, there's some camera film rolls hanging to dry around the place. I like to think it talks about, even though she's just visiting, she can see his studio as if it hers too.
Another bit of fun I had with this is when I hyper-fixated researching Soviet cameras from the early XXth century to figure out what she would be using.
All of this to say, and stop me if you've read me saying this before, I may have overdone this one a bit.
Fittingly I’m also including a Black and white version, as well some of the extra stuff I did to fit the picture, starting with the painting in the corner.
My idea for the picture, this being an adult piece, was for Damian to be inspired a bit by the work of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec as in trying to capture some of the night life in the cities.
Same with the following picture which was inspired, more specifically, by the tradition of the Mexican cabaret.
And finally some loose sketches, the ones I didn’t loose, managed to save and atleast on scrapped one.
