I've been stuck in rendering hell for this piece, and wasnt sure what was missing or why it wasnt coming together the way I wanted to...
I decided to step back and do other things for awhile, hoping to get a fresh look after time away from working on this piece.
Bit the bullet and went all in on detailing out the background and it seemed to have been the missing piece (´ཀ`」 ∠)
