[nsfw] alternative girl pinups

hello!

i hope everyone’s holidays were cozy, and hopefully not too stressful. i’ve had a lot on my plate, ha, literally had a lot to do and a lot to eat. yummy.

i wanted to draw something that’s simple for me and pleasant to do while i’m feeling low on energy, so i drew these goth/’suicide girls’ pinups. i’ll post all my wips and process too in the exxxtras tier!

the scars were an idea that i had from the start, honestly just to switch it up a bit and do something different. i know (or know of) so many cool people with large ones from medical procedures, and i just haven’t seen that many alternative style pinups with scars like that. to me, scars aren’t an unsightly thing. they’re just part of your history, like everything else that ends up on our bodies. in many cases i think they’re actually very attractive. and not just intentional ones like the ones you see in cultures with scarification traditions, but even accidental or surgery scars.

tattoos fascinate me too in that way. they’re a kind of scar, something you can’t take off, and like scars they’re another mark of your past. after getting tattooed i actually found myself more at peace with my body and less perfectionist about it. there’s plenty i would change about it still, but after talking to a friend about this, we both agreed that we found ourselves giving less of a fuck about “imperfections” after being tattooed. it almost seems stupid to care about little things when you have, for example, a dumb looking cat permanently inked onto your skin. like, who cares, it’s a body, it moves around and does the things you need it to.
