With the crises caused by Dottore resolved at last, Nicole finally had time to devote to her writing. For better or worse, the calamities engineered by the mad doctor made for a good source of inspiration for the angel who eagerly presented the draft to her fellow witches of the Hexenzirkel at their regular tea parties.
Though only Alice and Barbeloth were able to make time for the tea party. Of the two, Barbeloth gave a scathing review, saying it was too cliché among other things. Naturally Nicole defended her draft, denouncing her words as slander rather than constructive criticism.
The angelic author was not having it today, she had just helped save the world, twice, from the machinations of a lunatic. She didn’t need Barbeloth’s harsh words. Truly the situation was getting serious when Alice had to act as the mediator; proposing that the two play a game and that the loser must do anything for the winner.
The two choose chess as the means to settle this contest. Barbeloth was confident, looking through her scry glass earlier in the week foretold her winning a chess game this week. So imagine her surprise when Nicole checkmated her on the sixth turn.
As per the wager, Barbeloth was now at Nicole’s mercy and she had an idea, this one inspired by the Traveler and her many private escapades. The Hydromancer still couldn’t believe her situation as she was strapped in stocks and her gorgeous feet bared for the world to see.
Anyone in proximity to the witches’ floating island could faintly hear laughter. A acute listener would be able to pick up the various pitches of laughter, leading to their imagination running wild. Either way, it’d make for an interesting story.
