Hello, everyone. On May 15, 2011, Leviathan attacked Brockton Bay. Thanks to an underwater monitoring system installed prior, we were able to respond roughly thirty minutes before he made landfall. Parahumans and volunteers from all over the United States and Canada answered the call.
There is much to say, but I'll keep it brief: Leviathan is dead.
No, this is not a joke. As a survivor of Newfoundland myself, please forgive me if I take exceptional glee in saying this again: Leviathan is dead.
You can't see, but I am dancing.
That said, it was still a costly endbringer battle, as they all are. Many parahumans, volunteers, and civilians didn't make it. Please be respectful of their sacrifice.

That said, it's a bit off topic. I've created a separate thread to discuss community organizations and similar [here]. It's been stickied to the forum so everyone can see it first.

[Whitecollar], I'm not the scaly overlady, but I can shed some light on those questions.
Touki, [this guy in the snazzy sunglasses], was a minor rogue/indie hero in New England. I can't really narrow down his place of residence because he doesn't have one. He's been spotted in Buffalo, Albany, New York City, and even as far away as New Haven and Stafford, both in Connecticut. He's kind of a knight errant, or as close to one as you can get in modern times.
For the most part, he visits small towns, shacks up for a few days, and helps manage any local troublemakers in exchange for food, lodging, and stuff to tinker with. He's definitely a hero, though. [Here's] him helping people from a burning building. And [here's] him fixing some guy's tractor because apparently, dude's handy with regular tech as well as tinkertech.
He's gone mostly under the radar because he almost never gets into serious fights with other capes and his “territory” is so out of the way. Even when he briefly visited NYC, he never clashed with anyone.
The Adepts (local gang) attempted to recruit him, which obviously failed. That's as close to a major confrontation he's ever had. He also briefly met Jouster and Flechette of the New York Wards before leaving, which is how we know he goes by Touki.
As for him and [Dragon_Official's] romantic status, I dare not guess. I don't know anything about Dragon King Lagann, either. They've obviously collaborated before to have made a combining robot, but I have no idea when or how it could have happened.

Still, thanks. Why did he avoid the spotlight for so long, though? He's obviously had Lagann for a while now. Even before combining, he held his own better than most against Leviathan so it’s clearly not because he’s weak or a coward.

lolol I've got nothing to add there, but fyi: "Touki" means "fighting spirit" in Japanese. Very appropriate given how often he seems to shout about the "burning spirit of a man's resolve" and whatnot.
He's also wearing a [tokkō-fuku], which is a modified [haori] from the Bōsōzoku era of Japanese biker gangs. "Tokkō-fuku" literally means "special attack clothing" so make of that what you will. Dude's got style. It's outdated as hell, but still, style.

And yes, we’re on the same team. Since our cooperation against Leviathan, he has joined the Guild and insists that I am part of "Team Dai-Lagann."
As for what that means exactly, you can consider TDL to be a... special unit within the Guild. That's not quite right, but I suppose we'll sort that out as we move forward.

Mecha. Even before the Sentai Elite, there used to be a lot of shows back pre-Kyushu that involved giant robots, especially combining giant robots. This is right up their alley, especially given how big of a fanbase Dragon and Touki are bound to get.

[Here’s] a motion in the Diet (their equivalent of Congress) to make May 15th a national holiday. There’s also an [internet flame war] about what they should call it. I suspect it’ll only be settled if/when [Dragon_Official] or [Blazing Manliness] chime in.
[Here’s] the official Team Dai-Lagann fanclub, which already has over three hundred thousand members. I’m told Dragon’s fanclub has been folded into it. They’re already sponsoring themed cafes and whatnot.
[Here’s] a list of companies offering them free shit. Someone tried to compile it, then gave up because it got global, fast.
Also, [they’re Japanese citizens now]. I mean, I guess Touki already was one? Either way, Canada better watch out or Japan might poach them.
Oh, and the [bounty money]. Not a complete list on account of private foundations and such, but even the publicly available amount is impressive. I hope it goes towards an even bigger, cooler robot, maybe one that’s specialized in high altitude combat, hint hint.
A [copycat comedian] already started wearing the red shades and cloak. He’s either going to get lynched for impersonating their hero or become a national sensation.
And, [here] are a bunch of regional biker gangs in Japan. Some just formed and others are carryovers from that Bōsōzoku era that [BadSamurai] was talking about. They’ve all agreed to add red sunglasses to their flags in honor of Touki. Red haori are back in fashion apparently.

I'm still watching the compilation video and is it just me or is Lagann way more durable than it looks? Like, sure, it's smaller than a golf cart, but it gets spiked by Leviathan multiple times and just bounces back. What's it even made of?

Definitely not just you. Amy says Touki intervened when Leviathan hit the hospital at one point. He got the shit kicked out of him, but I mean, he's why a lot of people got to evacuate. Mad respect, especially since he might have saved my sister’s life.
And then, later, he worked with Uncle Neil and Eric to [stall Leviathan again]. That little ball is plenty strong on its own without the “MANLY COMBINING” (caps required, lol).

The bounty for Leviathan's death, once all applicable international exchange rates and processing fees are paid, comes out to approximately $721M total. Touki and I were assigned the lion's share, some of this will be portioned out to other capes who took part.

To add to this, there's a huge influx of cash flowing into Brockton right now. It's no longer Boston's forgotten little sister. It's the city Leviathan died in. Lots of people want to rebuild the city because of it.
Because of this, we're seeing a joint organizational committee composed of local and national actors to manage it all. On the local side, we've got Kevin Stansfield, Roy Christner, and Director Emily Piggot representing the economic, municipal, and PRT interests.
In terms of cape news, Prism, Ursa Aurora, Weld, and Flechette will be transferring to the Bay to provide additional stability. After all, yes, Leviathan's dead, but he also caused a huge mess. More hero presence is the first thing we need.

Actually, Touki did seem quite interested in the idea of a base there. He says he may as well clean up the Boat Graveyard. He also had some less than charitable things to say about the villains there.
Oddly enough, his focus seems to be on Coil’s organization, not Kaiser. He was quite insistent on making Coil his priority, actually.

Author’s Note
Here’s the obligatory PHO chapter that follows (almost) every endbringer battle. As far as I’m concerned, this story is done. We got a cool fight, Kazuki joined the Guild, and Dinah is back with her (hilariously oblivious) parents.
If I pick this up again in the future, it’ll probably be because I picked up whiskey again. I can see it becoming a longform story focused on the adventures of Dragon King Lagann across the world. Still, no. Too much on my plate.
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the short. Thanks for the wonderful idea. You know who you are.
Animal Fact: Arctic reindeer have blue eyes, but only in the winter. As the seasons change from summer to winter, their eyes change from gold-brown to ice-blue and back again. This is because the color of their eyes impacts how light reflects off their retinas and improves their vision.
Don’t ask. I have no idea how that works, either. If I had to guess, it has to do with how much ambient blue/red light is available in each season.
