Greetings, Brockton Bay. I am Ancalagon. I am a Dragon. Ask me anything.

I post here tonight for my debut, my coming to this Turned Age. I come with myself and my Hoard. You may have met them already.
There is Jenevelle, my first living treasure, my right-hand woman, and my cleric. There are the Goblins (Leora, Anart, Matcha, and Sprocktet), my rogues. There is Dharla, my bard and herald. There is Pyrite, princess of my own flesh and blood. There is Calamitas, my calamity. There is Belladonna, my freakish witch and freakish arcane researcher. And there is Glory, my monster striving to be better, to heal both herself and others.

They are my Hoard's living treasures, all mine to cherish and protect. I aim to see them thrive, to see the Hoard grow. But they are not all I intend to bring to this world.
You boast a strange game here, one of capes — heroes and villains with great and terrible consequences. Already, I've come to believe the only way to win is not to play.
Thus, my Hoard and I shall not be 'capes'. I've already set the groundwork for another path. We are Adventurers, the first of the Adventurer's Corps. We will not be the last.

Such is my intended business in this Age, my plan that I shall present openly, for I have nothing to hide. I've already set up a corporation to facilitate it. Soon enough, the Adventurer's Corps will be realized. We will bring adventure to this Age without.
The Adventurer's Corps will offer new things to experience and explore, comfort zones to leave, challenges for the worthy, tests for the reformed, and the solving of problems that need it most.
We shall accept such jobs. We shall see them through. For those who accept them with us, there will be rewards, from the wealth of my Hoard to... more; power to be given to those who earn it.
I welcome all to join us in adventure, eventually. This Age has room for many more adventurers than just us. So, I say, come push the limits of the game you are used to. Come be part of something novel, narratives to call your own. Come, and see how your Age has been lacking without proper fantasy and adventure.
Now, I shall be here all night and long into the morn. I shall answer what questions I deign to. And I shall bring my Hoard, those you might've already met, to do the same.

Hello, all! Dragon here. I just wanted to pop in on this thread to vouch for it. Ancalagon approached me first. He had his own questions for me regarding his... plan for adventure. Unfortunately, his initially intended name for an Adventurer's 'Guild' isn't going to come to pass, since the name's kind of taken already.
He was very understanding about that, and I see he's already adapted his plans to another name.
I can confirm that his Adventurer's Corps is all above board from what I can tell. He jumped through all the right hoops to set up Adventure Incorporated (in record time, at that). I can also confirm that the pictures he posted haven't been doctored at all. That's really him. Yes, I'm just as shocked and awed as the rest of you.
I'll probably be lurking in this thread for the rest of the night, 'cause I'll freely admit to my own curiosity. I'm looking forward to seeing what information Ancalagon has to share with us!
So welcome, Ancalagon! It's good not to be the only heroic Dragon on Earth Bet anymore!

Void, let's not go that far. There's almost certainly a perfectly understandable (as far as cape shenanigans go) explanation for this.
Ancalagon looks like a dragon, and a... massive one, at that. But that doesn't mean MAGIC is suddenly real. It's never been real before. Why would it start now?

I mean, isn't magic just a term for phenomena we don't understand? The whole 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' quote? By that definition, all capes are magic, 'cause we still haven't been able to fully explain how powers work.

@ Star_Chaser - They are not. Magic is not nearly so simple. It is inherently undefinable; that is, paradoxically, its core definition.
It is the esoteric, the enigmatic, the essence of fantasy. It is a truth of creation ever beyond us, one we may grasp, and prove, and question, but never fully ken.
It is power, in mystery.
And I did, in fact, bring magic to this Age.

I am a Dragon. Pride is ever-intertwined with my nature. But here, I only state facts. This Age was one barren of magic. It cleaved to other phenomena before the arrival of myself and my Hoard; no less powerful, simply different. Those other phenomena are where the powers you know derive themselves.
Magic is unique as powers go, now aligning alongside all this Age has already seen. If you do not believe me, you need only wait and watch. The arcane will not be shy to make itself known now that it's here.
Magic shall reveal itself in due time, and I shall aid it in that reveal.

Of a sort, certainly. 'Magic' is an umbrella as wide as 'physics', sheltering all the mysteries of creation beneath. Some magic comes from a trait or a talent. Other magic is the product of hard work and stubborn wills.
Magic can be born or bestowed or brought unto oneself. It comes in more forms than even a Dragon can count. It only withers and dies when we stop exploring, experiencing, and experimenting; it only fails when we turn away from adventure.

I have a supercomputer terminal in my Hoard that I operate through my Authority, my magical claim over it. But if you wish, you can picture me poking at the keyboard with massive claws. I, too, find the mental image humorous.
The gold is the basis of my Hoard, so essential, earned through several Turning Ages. Some of it was rewarded to me. Some was won and looted. Some was even stolen. Yet my Hoard is not just gold; it contains artifacts and treasures unrivaled. It is the ultimate record of all of my adventures.
An Age is an Age. The term simply defines a period of being. An empire may be an Age. An apocalypse, another. But no matter what they consist of, no Age lasts forever. They Turn with time, and in those Turnings, novel developments may appear.
That is where I arrive, from one Age to another. My Hoard and I, in the local terms, are dimensional travelers from worlds unlike this one. We have been old, but here, we are young. This Age shall be our home for the time being.

Right, that's also a thing. It's not just you; there are ten more, uh, adventurers with you. I've been trying to document and coordinate their debuts all night, 'cause they're happening all over the city.
Here's what I have so far, if people are interested.
Jenevelle, Dharla, and Belladonna were seen walking through Downtown Brockton Bay and stopping at the Palanquin. There, they were accosted by the Empire 88 (Hookwolf, Victor, and Othala). Laserdream from New Wave, the Palanquin's cape crew (Faultline, Newter, and Gregor the Snail), and the Protectorate (Assault, Battery, and Miss Militia) then proceeded to join the standoff.
The new trio introduced themselves, mentioned Ancalagon, and then diplomacy fell apart, at least on the Empire’s side of things. Hookwolf took offense and attacked. Jenevelle struck him down in a single 'Moonlit Smite' (reports claim), THROUGH OTHALA-GRANTED INVULNERABILITY. She also cooperated with Miss Militia and let the Protectorate take him into custody. Hookwolf has been captured.

Elsewhere, deep in ABB territory, Pyrite, Calamitas, and the Goblin Rogues had their own interesting night. The Goblins knocked over an ABB safehouse, looting it for all it was worth. Unfortunately, Lung was inside and came out to confront the thieves. Then, Pyrite stepped in, dueled him in decisive fashion (his power was struggling against her for some reason), and THREW HIM INTO THE BAY FROM A MILE OUT.
Best of all, the whole show was streamed live by Calamitas. The stream is still up as of me posting this. Calamitas seems to be talking about games. Looks like Uber and Leet have some new competition lol.

Finally, Glory. She was seen talking to Armsmaster. They honestly seemed to get along in a weird way. Camaraderie between fellow tinkers, maybe? A mass casualty alert was then called in due to brutal E88 initiations led by Crusader and Alabaster, and Glory rode with Armsmaster to Brockton General Hospital. There, she worked tirelessly and frantically alongside Panacea to heal all she could.
She saved lives tonight.

That... has to be a record for cape (uh, not cape?) debuts in a single night, even for Brockton Bay. And all of them were eventful. Hookwolf has been defeated and captured. Lung has been defeated but not captured. And Brockton Bay now boasts a third healer.
First night out, and the Hoard is already looking like a powerful group.

Just kidding, they seem cool. Leet and I watched the stream. The dragon girl was hitting real-life combos like they were going out of style (on LUNG, too), and Calamitas was weirdly comfortable streaming. I doubt it was her first time. She's also clearly a gamer. Gotta respect that.

@ Tin_Mother - I took no offense. It is a valid question, and one I am willing to answer. I understand this Age has understandable problems with the concept of ‘Mastering’.
@ Chaosfaith - I am not, neither by local terms nor by objective truth. I am a lord, a Dragon Lord, but no Master with evil intent or ultimate control. If anything, I know what it is to be Mastered myself, slaved to a Dark Lord in my very first Age. I would not do the same to my Hoard.
The living treasures of my Hoard are mine by willingly given consent. They join me through Turning Ages due to reasons and stories that are their own to share. My claim over them is Authority but not control. I am honored that they choose to follow me.

Oh, how exciting! The good word of Elune and Ancalagon's coupling can reach so many souls lost in the night like this!
Elune is my Lady, Goddess of the Moon. And Ancalagon is my Lord, Dragon of the Moon. They laid together for a whole Moon cycle, a carnal dance of magical proportions. A more glorious scene, I have never seen. Lady Elune then entrusted me to Ancalagon, and I haven’t looked back since, for he is of the Moon just as my Lady is.
Thus, Elune-Adore is a statement that gives praise to my Lady and my Lord’s Moons. It is a greeting and a blessing, my Lady’s name called for the mortal world to hear. I do hope that all I blessed tonight found what they were looking for.
The Moon is a beautiful and powerful thing. All deserve to enjoy its light in the night.

@ Calleo - Soon enough, indeed. Much work still needs to be done, but I have committed myself to bringing adventure to this Age.
As I do, it will not discriminate based on strength or 'powers'. Adventure is not so picky. A trip somewhere new may be an adventure, one we're willing to sponsor. The same, however, could be said about a cape who wishes to try something different, and we're willing to sponsor them all the same.
The Adventurer’s Corps will be something new to this Age, and it will be open to all who are brave enough to test themselves.
And, of course, the Hoard will be available for adventure when it calls, be it contracted or naturally developing. We endeavor to lead by example.

Hey, all. I suppose I can speak to my experiences with the Hoard tonight. Not-so-official Protectorate statement, and all.
I don't know about the rest of the Protectorate, but no complaints here! We got to capture Hookwolf without lifting a finger or endangering any lives. Jenevelle (still a strange cape name) was perfectly agreeable and cooperative.

Dharla... I'll be honest, she kinda scares me. Not in a villainous way. She's just... zealous about that moon of hers. I'm afraid she might just convert me if I'm not looking. Still, she was very, very nice about it.
No comment about Ancalagon, yet. Haven't met him. Just what I’ve seen from this thread and what I heard from Dharla and Belladonna. They're both very... passionate about him. All I can say is that's a lucky man-... err, dragon.
(And that if he's as inhumanly sexy as those three women are, I dread meeting him. My poor, glorious ego will be in shambles if I have to compete with draconic sex appeal.)
