Fort Eelry

DESCRIPTION

Fort Eelry is the 3rd of 6 small settlement maps based on ideas suggested by Patreon Supporters late last year. This one was suggested by Owen and started out as:

"... a remote border fort, where a settlement has grown up alongside the fort. The settlement is originally military in nature, so it is strategically located on the border of this nation-state. The first structure there was the fort. To the North east are hazardous mountains, to the northwest treacherous forest.  Brave merchants, hunters, traders, miners, etc travel into and out of those areas to secure rare goods, passing through the settlement town which sits just at the edge of civilization,..."

From there it has grown.

You will find several layers of history: An older ruined settlement near the church, even older ruins of the original fort on the hilltop in the SE, and the more recently ruined (still partially occupied) Old Crossing Fort on the river bridge.
There is also evidence of recent population growth: eg: The Newcomers Orchard up near the old fort - can you spot the small cleared area waiting for a new planting of trees?
Then there are caves: Because we need a few of those right? 2 are at river level, 4 are near The Circle and 1 up the hill leads under the ruined fort.
And, just for the Aussies out there: the Laundry has 3 Hills Hoists  :-)

2 locations on this map are based on existing Battlemaps:

  • The fort itself is based on 'The Northern Fort' - Available on Roll20
  • The Old Church Library is based on, wait for it.... 'The Old Church Library' - Available on Roll20 (& is also still in the archives here for Patreon Supporters)

Happy plotting everyone
