I want to open the floor to yall to engage in a community discussion on Tyler Perry’s recent film Straw. Idk if you all have seen the movie itself, but I am quite certain you’re familiar with the critique that Tyler Perry’s film’s glamorize black womens trauma. What are your thoughts on this film if you’ve seen it & on the trauma porn allegations? If you grew up watching Tyler Perry films, I would like to hear your thoughts in particular because, in my view, you have the most valuable perspective in this discourse.
Also, I am considering doing a full length video review, but of course I wanted to gauge y’all’s interest.
