💙[UPDATED] Blueberry Reaction Shot 08💙

Hi dear Berries! 👋😊 Today we’re excited to share with you the eighth Pre-Animation (combining live-action with CGI) of Foxlo’s transformation into a Giant Blueberry! 🫐 This time, we focus on the moment when the juice reaches Foxlo’s head, causing her cheeks to noticeably swell and her eyes to change color!!! 👀 All the info about the process below…

It’s finally here! 🎉 This one took longer than expected, mainly due to the complexity of blending CGI with live-action, 🎥 the rendering times and also because this is the first close-up shot of Foxlo’s face in the entire sequence. 💻🔥 That said: shot 08 is now complete, representing a very advanced stage of her transformation, 😨 where you can clearly see her face expanding and her eyes turn blue of juice inside her body. 🔵💦

This shot is inspired by the iconic moment from the 2005 Movie, as we followed the same production process (🔝You have an example in GIF format) and which we wanted to pay tribute to while adding a more mature, bold and darker tone to the scene. 🎦 It was especially challenging because being a close-up shot, we had to push the integration between live-action & CGI to the highest level to achieve a cohesive and realistic result. On top of that, her hair reacts to the swelling of her cheeks, 👩‍🦳 moving outward to enhance the sense of volume and pressure. 💨🎈

🛠️ On the technical side:

Animation was done in Blender, using rotoscoping from the live footage.

Softbody effects were created in Houdini.

Foxlo’s real head was composited onto her digital body in Nuke.

Lighting and rendering were handled in Cycles using Blender.

⚠️ Keep in mind that these pre-animations aren’t the final result — they’re part of our process to build out each sequence, integrate the real head with the 3D body and fix any issues during production. 🎞️ They also help us refine the lighting and atmosphere, which we’ll later enhance with additional layers of post-processing to achieve a more realistic and cinematic look (The best movie). ⬇️Video Links⬇️
