Hi dear Berries! 👋😊 Today we're excited to bring you the ninth Pre-Animation (combining Live-Action with CGI) of Foxlo's Giant Blueberry transformation! 🫐🎬 This time: we've reached one of the most advanced stages of the sequence, where Foxlo's body continues swelling, gradually taking on a more rounded and spherical shape!!! 🔵 All the information about the process is below... ⬇️
Finally! 🏆 After a tremendous amount of work, Shot 09 of our pre-animated sequence is now complete. 🥳🎉 This shot took longer than expected due to the challenges of seamlessly blending CGI with Live-Action, 🎥 the lengthy rendering times, and the need to create an additional layer of digital hair to achieve a more natural and convincing result. 👩🦳 As you can see, this is a very advanced stage of Foxlo's transformation, where her body continues expanding as more blueberry juice accumulates inside her. 💦 At the same time, her anatomy becomes increasingly round and spherical, gradually approaching the iconic giant blueberry shape that fans of the transformation will instantly recognize (No fan is unaware of this). 🔵😍
This shot is inspired by one of the most memorable moments from the 2005 movie. 🍿 We wanted to pay tribute to that iconic scene while also giving it our own visual and cinematic style, 🎦 and presented some particularly interesting challenges: Because of the facial changes that occur at this point in the transformation, we had to carefully integrate the live-action head with the digital body to ensure both elements felt completely unified and natural. 👀 In addition, Foxlo's hair had to adapt to the expanded shape of her face, which required us to create an extra digital hair layer to properly cover and follow the new facial volume (Always in style). 💇🏼♀️✨
🛠️ On the technical side:
Animation was done in Blender, using rotoscoping from the live footage.
Softbody effects were created in Houdini.
Foxlo’s real head was composited onto her digital body in Nuke.
Lighting and rendering were handled in Cycles using Blender.
⚠️ Keep in mind that these pre-animations aren’t the final result — they’re part of our process to build out each sequence, integrate the real head with the 3D body and fix any issues during production. 🎞️ They also help us refine the lighting and atmosphere, which we’ll later enhance with additional layers of post-processing to achieve a more realistic and cinematic look (The best movie). ⬇️Video Link⬇️
We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did creating it! 💙 And as always, thank you so much for all your support — it’s because of you that we can keep developing new material for the film and continue making this amazing project a reality. 🙌 Stay tuned for more Blueberry content and upcoming posts like this one… the best is coming! 💋
