Good news! I’m reopening my Patreon! This is an exciting time, but it's also filled with some understandable anxiety and concern. We're all struggling in many ways due to COVID-19. Both of my jobs are on hold. I now lack stable income, but it's a mixed blessing. I have time to do art! And I've been working hard in various ways with plans for this, though perhaps wasn’t expecting to make such a sudden return.
The timing is interesting too--a bit bittersweet, but I think my dad would be proud of this decision. Today marks an entire year that my dad has been gone, taken from an unfair battle with cancer. There were many other difficult reasons as well that caused me to stop drawing, unfortunately. But my dad was a true inspiration in striving to overcome sickness and to aim for one’s aspirations. His work ethic, dedication, and commitment are things I now wish to replicate.
All those years ago before he passed, I remember admitting my fears and discouragement with art. He kept it simple and clear that it would come back if I gave it time and some obvious hard work. I think now I could compare it to my dad’s devotion to running. Even if you were previously a marathon champion, sometimes we all need breaks or have seasons of drought. That means you can’t always jump straight into marathons either. You must work for it, train, and find your balance.
I could muse and talk about this a lot, but in my case, my art will speak louder than any rambling. I will have a post in the next few days giving a bit more practical information and what you will be expecting from me...and well, of course the drawings! I will start 'officially' on April 1st.

As a note, I also realize this isn't the most prime time to be asking for pledges either. I know many have lost jobs or having leave of absences. Please do not feel bad if you can not commit, but I have set the tiers in ways that I feel are flexible. Even the $2 tip jar goes so much further than you may realize. In this time of uncertainty, the very least I can provide is various forms of entertainment, inspiration, and education.
