On this edition of our Star Trek recap show, we're chatting about a surprisingly well-animated (and poorly acted) episode of TOSTAS, and a really solid adventure story on TNG!
First up on TOSTAS, it's the laugh-filled episode, "The Practical Joker." Originally airing September 21, 1974, this episode features the Enterprise taking a wrong turn somehow and flying smack into the Romulan Neutral Zone. This episode has everything from cool space animation and hilariously lazy voice acting, to every character giggling like Beavis & Butt-Head and Kirk wearing a shirt that says he's a jerk!
Then, across the Alpha Quadrant on TNG, it's the Poseidon Adventure-inspired episode, "Disaster"! Premiering back on October 19, 1991, this episode has the Enterprise smashing into a subspace speed bump that completely disables the ship leaving: Troi in charge of the bridge (yikes!), Geordi and Beverly getting poisoned by gas in the cargo bay, Riker and Data playing Touch the Third Rail in a Jeffries Tube, Worf helping Keiko O'Brien give birth in Ten Forward, and, most hilarious of all, Picard getting stuck in a turbolift with three of the things he hates most in this world: children!
The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support our family of shows—we couldn't do it without you! We know you have lots of options for pods and we're super-stoked you chose to spend some time with us—thanks again!
