I'm working on a video about my 3 favorite same-sex lovers who are:
Poseidon and Nerites!
I feel like no one ever talks about Nerites when it's kind of a big deal, he's one of only 2 male lovers of Poseidon (that otherwise had 72 other partners !). Their story is kind of sad, since a jealous Helios changed poor Nerites into.. a shrimp :/ There is also a variant where he was actually a lover of Aphrodite instead btwAmpelos & Dionysus. What I find really cute about this is that when Ampelos died (in the most stupid circumstances ever, by trying to fetch a vine in a tall tree), Dionysus lifted him up as part of the Virgo constellation. There's something fascinating to me about making your lover eternal, even after death.
Achilles & Patroclus. Ok I know I know it's not 100% explicit by Homer that they were lovers. But when i read things like Achilles saying after Patroclus' death "Patroclus has fallen, the man I loved beyond all others, loved as my own life" AND the fact that their ashes were mixed after Achilles' death, I do think they were lovers.
One misconception I had and I've learned from the research is that Patroclus is actually older than Achilles. He therefore served as a role-model in their relationship, a mentor of sort, that was much more balanced and well-thought than the very impulsive Achilles (this won't be part of the video because it's too long to explain but I wanted to share it with you here !)
