National Anomalous Preserves Weekly Incident Report

INCIDENTS
98-069: North Face of Torre Del Diablos
A group of five mountaineers who got caught by a sudden storm as they ascended the final pitch on the north face of Torre Del Diablos reported being sheltered from the squall’s ~120 KMPH wind gusts by an “iridescent force field bubble” that appeared seconds after the storm blew in. All five described seeing a “mirage” resembling a man wearing a red jacket and green boots floating just outside the bubble for the duration of its manifestation. The bubble remained around the mountaineers for the whole of the storm, approximately 45 minutes, before vanishing just as the winds began to slow. The team then proceeded to summit successfully before descending to the base of the Torre. All five were independently interviewed by park doctors, psychologists, and three of the park’s Designated Anomalous Incident Agents. Personnel consensus and automated analysis techniques indicate high levels of confidence in the truth of the team’s story. The description of the humanoid “mirage” given by the team precisely matches that of Anomalous Entity 49TT, the suspected ‘echo’ of S.G., s mountaineer who went missing during Incident 96-503F. This sighting of AE 49TT marks its 4th probable sighting since S.G.’s disappearance and the third (and most significant) example of tangible intervention at the hands of the AE 49TT.
98-070: Circuit D Visitor Center Male Bathroom
Park maintenance responded to reports of an overpowering raw sewage stench emanating from the men’s bathroom and found a catastrophic backup in toilet #4. Upon investigation, the u-bend in toilet #4 was found to be clogged by a dense mass of toilet paper and fecal matter. A bathroom closure of 3 and a half hours was necessitated by the situation, after which the clog was cleared, and the bathroom was reopened. New and LARGER signs asking guests to please dispose of toilet paper via the in-stall cans have since been installed.
98-071: Mirador a Los Dioses Trail
A guest, F.P. from Santiago, Chile, suffered a seizure accompanied by spontaneous 2-meter vertical levitation while hiking with her family along the Mirador a los Dioses Trail. The seizure lasted approximately 7 minutes, after which F.P. collapsed to the ground and fell unconscious. Search and rescue removed F.P. from the trail via life flight and took F.P. to the Preserve Research Hospital, where she was successfully awoken via a combination of intravenous stimulants and photo-retinal stimulation sequences. Upon waking, F.P. was nonverbal for five minutes, after which she rapidly recovered her faculties. In the discharge interview, F.P. made the following statement regarding what she experienced while seizing:
“... they wanted my opinion on something, they NEEDED it to… to settle a disagreement of some kind. I remember it being such an easy question, such a simple thing for me to answer, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was. Every time I think I remember it, it slips away, like trying to pinch a wet piece of ice with my mind…”
This marks the 10th incident of direct Otradios-Human communication in the last 12 months, a 220% increase over the previous 12-month period. The park’s Designated Anomalous Incident Agents have been informed and provided with all relevant information.
98-072: Mirador a las Lengas
A guest, P.A. from Peoria, Illinois, was walking along the Mirador a Las Lengas trail when he was briefly attacked by a puma. According to P.A., the puma pounced on him and knocked him to the ground, but only pawed, nuzzled, and sniffed him aggressively before vanishing into the surrounding woods. P.A. was left shaken but entirely uninjured by the incident. He declined medical care, and when interviewed said that the puma appeared entirely normal, save for a “pinprick of light glowing in between its eyes”. A park biologist specializing in fauna mutations sustained by permanent animal residents of the Otradioses area of causal effect has been dispatched to track and study the Puma.
98-073: Bajocañón Trail
A group of backcountry trekkers hiking through the remote Bajocañón Trail came across six scorched skeletons arranged in a circle in the center of a deep gully directly beneath Otradios 23, designation “El Dios De La Hendidura”. The trekkers did not disturb the remains and instead used their sat-phone to call park search and rescue, who responded to the scene. S&R located and retrieved the bodies before searching the surrounding area. A camp believed to be that of the deceased was found less than a kilometer away in a side canyon. Within the camp, passports (2x Argentina, 1x Colombia, 2x United States, 1x Germany) for the six were discovered, along with diaries and logs suggesting that the deceased were active members of the Waking Hand Siblingry, a fringe collection of neo-apocalyptic esotericists. The journals also suggest that the six travelled to the area a week before their discovery in order to perform an unsanctioned ritual aimed toward El Dios De La Hendidura. Investigation is ongoing, and no reliable conclusions have yet been drawn as to what transpired to instigate the immolation of the six.
98-074: Southern Sector of the Park, Accommodations Blocks 1A - 8D.
A violent storm knocked out power for nearly 8 hours on the night of Saturday, April 10th, after a lightning strike blew out sub-transformer 12. Park electricians and maintenance staff converged on the site at 1 am April 11th and were able to restore power just after sunrise. Overall, disruptions were minimal thanks to the quick work of park staff.
98-075: Lago del Rey de Hielo
A glacier tour boat, the Rey de Hielo III, was cruising 500 meters from the base of Glaciar del Rey de Hielo when Otradios 17, designation “El Rey de Hielo”, became agitated. Amidst its upset, el Ray de Hielo shook the glacier with the same strength as a localized magnitude 5.3 earthquake, causing many large sections of the glacier to calve off and crash into the water. Enormous waves resulted in the Lago as a result, knocking the RDH III tour boat off course and causing over a dozen minor injuries and three overboard incidents. All passengers injured and cast overboard were immediately brought to the Park Medical Center for treatment and discharged on the same day. Park staff responsible for monitoring other Otradioses noted similar increases in agitation in nearly a dozen others, leading researchers to the belief that the collective agitation resulted from a medium-large disagreement amongst the debating deities. The park’s Designated Anomalous Incident Agent has been notified.
