Rouge got a tip from an unknown source, a lead to one of the chaos emeralds. Despite the fact that the source may not be trustworthy, it would have been foolish not to follow it.
Why would someone give her a fake lead, anyway? Surely nobody would want to trap her and take her away just to display her in an "art installation", right?
