We brought back Josh Floyd to make the new backgrounds on this episode. Josh has the patience of a saint to for putting up with us on this one, this has to have been the most we have ever flip-flopped around on our ideas for how we want the backgrounds to look. The biggest example here would be Moe's bedroom. We had originally thought that we should keep the wall color consistent with Katya's background from Stranger Danger. But if we wanted the palette for the rest of the room to match that, it would turn out a little too pink. We eventually settled on blue walls with a black outline for the laptop and table so that the characters and foreground elements would pop more.
There were several other ideas that we were throwing around to complicate the backgrounds just for the sake of conveying a specific vibe. For example, the foyer should not only convey that this is a nice house, but it should almost appear sinister. This is a hostile environment for Isaiah after all. We tried to give it a similar vibe to Norman Osborne's home in Spider Man 1. But even though this is not Isaiah's house, we wanted to implement some green into it since that color pairs very well with him. The bathroom especially needed this green tint added since that scene had Isaiah all by himself.
