We're looking at starting up the podcast again to get at least a solid half-sized season out of Season 9 and return to some normalcy by S10 later this summer. The problem is we're afraid if we start charging for episodes again and you're not interested in podcasts right now you'll be unhappy about being charged.
For those quietly wondering "Why not do the season and not charge anything?" This sadly isn't really an option with the upkeep costs of the podcast. Just paying Christian to edit these free episodes we've been putting up on top of our hosting fees has drained most of our coffers that were intended for a different side project.
So if S9E1 went up on Tuesday you'd have probably a 5 to 6 episode season and you'd start getting billed for the Patreon again in June.
If we wait another 2 weeks S9 will basically be S10 in the timeline and things will be a bit wonky as our whole year's schedule gets moved around to compensate for our seasonal holiday breaks being out of whack. Expect the rest of the year's seasons to be affected in some way schedule-wise to get things back to normal for us by the winter break. The plus side is you wouldn't get billed for anything until July then.
There is your context for the vote. Just to be clear the outcome of this vote does not directly decide what happens. I'm not making it a simple majority rules. If 49% of our patrons would be unhappy being billed for an episode next week I'm not going to subject them to it. Nobody but Eric and I can see who voted on what, so be honest, nobody can judge what you voted for.
(For the few of you who are in the signed card tier and worried about your rewards getting forgotten, don't worry! As soon as Eric and I can physically be in the same room to sign them and go to the post office to send cards out for S9 we will, and your S10 cards will follow shortly after to get everything back on schedule.)
