Hi,Got some great suggestions to make this a pinned post, so here it is. I feel really fortunate that the comments here are respectful and positive 99% of the time, which is great, because I would rather spend my time creating audios for you rather than moderating an internet community. That being said, here are some general guidelines with examples:
Be inclusive. Remember that this is a diverse community of people of different cultures, genders, identities, nationalities, and experiences, and to be clear, an explicitly inclusive space. What might be universal or standard to one person will not be for all. When speaking to your own personal experience, acknowledge that, and try not to make generalizations about the community.
E.g. Use gender neutral language when you don't know how someone else identifies, and when discussing the community, which is gender diverse.
Be kind. It costs little to be gentle, admit you messed up, or say sorry, even if you feel you were misinterpreted. Tone can get lost in text and in most cases, other Patrons don't know you or your intention. Try to give some grace and the benefit of the doubt. If someone tells you what you said was hurtful, take a second to reflect on how your comment may have come across.
E.g. Cheer for the poll option you want to win and discuss your own taste in content or kinks, but don't kink shame or talk down on what other people like.
You can block other Patrons. Not everyone is going to like everyone else. If you don't enjoy another Patrons' comments for personal reasons, I really recommend blocking them. You won't see their comments anymore. Just click through to their profile, find the three dots and hit Block.
If you see an inappropriate or offensive comment:
If it's outright offensive, if it breaks Patreon's rules, involves triggering language, personal attacks or being blatantly rude, you can let me know by DMing me.
If the above doesn't apply, like if it's somewhat inappropriate or could be unintentionally offensive, consider who it's directed at.
If the comment is purely addressing, concerning, or directed at me, block the person if you wish, but move on. Nobody needs to be starting arguments defending me from perceived offences. I see most comments and can deal with it myself by taking action if I choose to do so.
If the comment is directed at you, you can gently explain why you found it inappropriate, offensive or hurtful. Hopefully, they apologize and you both move on. If it becomes a repeated problem or escalates into an argument, see above and let me know.
If the comment is directed at the community at-large or mentions something relevant to the community, you can, again, gently explain why you found it inappropriate, offensive or hurtful. First, check to make sure somebody else hasn't already adequately replied. Piling on usually doesn't help. Again, if it escalates, you can let me know.
What will I do in response?
This is a shared space, but as the creator, it's up to my discretion how I choose to deal with things. Depending on how severe I think it is or if it's a continuing issue, I may:
Delete the comment and any attached comments.
Message the person a warning about appropriate commenting.
Ban/block them.
I really don't think we have a significant problem with any of this in this community and I hope it stays that way moving forward. Take care,
