Picking back up from a couple weeks ago, work continues apace. A few things here are due some additional explanation, so let me go into them. First off, I've decided to make ability icons for each character! For the time being they will just be quick doodles like you can see under Corn's Gut Instincts. Each character has 2-3 abilities, so this will be a fairly easy way of adding some personality to them while sprucing up the UI.
Battles will feature smaller sprites and less UI, with the aim of fitting the entire character on screen. In the case of especially large characters like Avalon, each character will be assigned a size value which will be used to scale the battle in order to ensure they fit. With small sprites, battles will also no longer need the center barrier to mask oversized bellies. Battles will also have enhanced visuals, with backgrounds, lighting on the sprites, and a prey display.
This is Dr. Astrid, the only other ordinary human to accompany the Commander and a central figure in the story. A cold and austere woman, she is the founder and former director of the Vessel project. While concerned only with advancing technology in her younger years, she has grown jaded and now believes her misappropriated discoveries may spell the end for humanity. She seeks to return from the new world to Earth, and recruits you at the beginning of the story to help her. As designs are not a major priority right now, her design is incomplete and may change from here as I narrow down how to convey her character.
And that's it! Thank you so much for another week!
