This is an update about what's happening with Playnite 9's development.

General
I'm currently focusing on housekeeping and refactoring needed for theme/extensions auto-update support. This requires major changes to the code base.
This includes split of all built-in plugins (library integrations and IGDB support) into separate repository. The main advantage for end users is that I will be able to publish updates for these extension without need to release new Playnite update. You'll receive bug fixes and new feature for built-in integrations in the same way they will be distributed for 3rd party extensions.
Add-on browser and updates
Add-ons (extensions and themes) can be now installed and updated directly from Playnite. There's now a new dialog you can use to search existing add-ons, manage installed ones or update to new versions.
Sidebar improvements
Extensions can now provide custom items to the Sidebar. They can also show progress status on a sidebar button (for example for long running background tasks).
You can now also choose to display individual items from Software Tools on Sidebar.
