Gojira finds himself getting upstaged yet again, and goes to desperate measures to reclaim the spotlight and make sure he's the biggest movie-making monster around. Enjoy!
*************
Gojira swaggered through the studio like he owned every building on the lot, the reptilian beast pumping his arms in anticipation, casting a dazzling smile and the bounce of his engorged pecs whenever he made eye contact with someone. Gojira had been the face of the Godzilla franchise for over a decade now, and he was not about to just let his throne be usurped by some Hollywood upstart like Ishiro— and after all the Gidorah actor had done to screw Gojira over behind the scenes, he was ready to remind everyone what a real monster looked like.
"Oh— Oh my God."
Gojira stopped, turning to spot the highest profile actress for the studio. With her luxurious pelt, large, bright eyes, and glamorous wings, Gojira had always been attracted to Mai— the long-standing face for Mothra. They even dated for a time, before she went off to California.
"Oh— my God, Mai, hi, hey—" Gojira cleared his throat, then forced on a broad, confident smile, rolling his broad boulder shoulders and leaning against the wall, taking up as much space as possible. "Hey. I didn't know you got back from the States," he said as casually as he could, curling one arm and letting a bicep the size of a melon swell up for her benefit. "Yeah, I've just been keepin' busy, you know?"
"I can tell," she purred, fingers delicately resting on his chest in a move that made Gojira's pecs flutter. "Are you headed for Ishiro's press conference too?"
The reptilian actor smirked, puffing up his chest. "Heh. You could say that. I'll, uh— see you 'round. You going to be in town for long?"
"I should hope so, they said they had a big Mothra part for the Gidorah movie."
Gojira's smile faltered at that. "Oh. Right, yes, of course. Well— We should do lunch some time."
Mai gave him a long, half-lidded look. "Mm, I think I can manage that— I wouldn't mind seeing more of you," she said with a gentle wave.
Gojira watched her sashay away, shaking his head as he turned back to the backstage area. "Right— focus. Ruin Ishiro's day, then sweep Mai off her feet."
He moved behind a large backdrop where he could hear the Studio President making his speech, and waited for the right moment.
"...what separates us from other studios is that we continue to push what is physically possible. Our actors are not just talented thespians, they are pioneers and athletes, always ready to make themselves the bigger-than-life spectacles we need—"
And that was his cue. Gojira let out a roar as he punched through the backdrop, storming the stage. The reporters immediately began to lap it up, dozens of cameras flashing as Gojira flashed a toothy smile and flexed, pumping both massive arms.
The studio president's mouth fell open. "Gojira! What— What the Hell do you think you're doing?"
"Remind you, and them, who the King of Monsters is," Gojira hissed under his breath, still smiling tightly, rolling his hands and gesturing to the crowd to generate applause. "You see? They love me. They've completely forgotten about Revenge of the Fallen, I'm so in."
He spotted Mai out in the audience as he flexed again for the cameras, and caught it as she blew him a kiss. This was exactly the publicity stunt he needed— and then, he spotted something large and golden hurtling towards him. Gojira felt a sudden urge of panic well up inside, that gold comet charging for him, and finally he lost his head— Gojira wrenched up one of the toxic waste barrel props on stage— he threw it, missed, and sounded like he hit one of the reporters.
"For God's sake, hit the deck!" Gojira shouted as he fell to the ground, covering his head— and then the gold mass buzzed him. After a few moments Gojira saw he had been cowering in fear of none other than Ishiro, the gold drake smirking down at him as he landed on the stage, equipped with a few upgrades of his own— in his case, a flight suit, complete with large, bat-like wings.
"Ah, out with the old, in with the new, eh?" Ishiro planted a foot on Gojira's broad back. "That, everyone, is the sort of death-defying stunt you can expect in my new film, Gidorah: The New Empire. We're so excited to announce this movie, and we can't wait to show off more."
As Ishiro flashed a smile for the cameras and waved, he leaned down, whispering to Gojira as he was still huddled on the ground, mortified. "Pathetic. This was your response to me sniping your next deal? Get a bunch of steroids and crash my press conference? Face it, man. You're old news. And anabolic pectorals are not going to fix that."
Gojira clenched his jaw shut, trying not to look reporters in the eye, and judging by the look the President shot him, he couldn't afford to say a word— all he could do at this point, despite the raw strength pulsing through his veins, was seethe.
Ten excruciating minutes and a thorough dressing down from the studio President, Gojira stormed back into his dressing room, slamming the door shut and nearly breaking the hinges as he did. He panted, bringing his fists down at the make-up counter. "They made him fly. Why not! They made. Him. Fly."
The hulking reptilian sank into his seat. "And I looked like such a… fucking moron in front of Mai…" he muttered, running a hand down his face, then stared at his reflection, his face now the pinnacle of a mountain of muscles, the sculpted shoulders and bulging pecs overfilling the mirror's frame. "Even with all this… it's still not enough!" He snarls, slamming his fist down on the table, splintering the wood. "All they think I am is just some nepo hire because of my dad… It doesn't matter how much work I put in, what stunts I pull, the degrees I've earned…" Gojira huffed, and clenched his jaw, spotting the extra pill. "Fuck it."
He grabbed it, gulping down the pill in an instant. "No more ignoring— they want a monster, I'll give them a mass monster. They want a beast, I will give them a beast!"
Even while he braced for it, he was still almost overwhelmed by the electric burst of energy that thrummed through his already huge body, his eyes rolling back in his head. He was driven to his knees, bursting out of his already shredded clothes as the muscles bubbling under his scales began pressing against his armored flesh, fighting for room. The spines running down his widening back began to shift, once glowing a soft blue, now pulsating and burning hot pink that glowed with a light of their own.
"Sh-shit…" Gojira groaned under the deep, pulsating pain that galvanized the fibers in his body. Anything in his grip was crushed into powder, and as he thrashed about, arms billowing out and legs thick as truck tires kicking and shattering furniture, Gojira shuddered. There was a subtle but growing pleasure underneath the pain; the actor never felt so powerful, the way he could so effortlessly break and powderize anything within reach, the delicious feeling of being bigger to the point of being a genuine monster was a tantalizing sensation.
Every part of him still pulsed and twitched, Gojira moaning as he pulled himself up. He could no longer fit in the mirror, and had to crouch down— his neck was almost entirely gone, swallowed up by meaty shoulder muscles, his face outpaced by the jutting cliff-face of his chest. Even his fine, chiselled features had been exaggerated, with a stronger jaw and a heavier brow.
"Fuck…" Gojira rumbled, his voice dropping an octave. "Look at me." After another moment, his mouth split into a toothy smirk. "Look at me!" He chuckled. "I am the King of Monsters!" He laughed, thumping his overly meaty chest. He pumped his arm, biting his lower lip as he watched how exquisitely huge bicep swelled up large enough for a car tire. He tilted his arm to kiss the peak of that mound of muscle— but then, the bicep met him, bumping into his snout.
Gojira was called back to reality, brought out of the reverie of indulging in his own massive size as he watched his own arm start to twitch and grow again. His head swam as he felt himself suddenly shoot up a few more inches, to the point where he could feel the ceiling of his dressing room gently brushing against the top of his head.
"Oh… Oh no."
The reptilian monster of an actor scrambled for his phone, his fingers almost too thick to hastily punch in the number for the pill supplier.
"Hello, Mr. Tanaka."
Gojira rolled his eyes briefly at the supplier's curt and snippy reply. "Look, hi, hey, I need some help."
"Help with what, Mr. Tanaka? You said you were satisfied."
"Well, uh, I… W-what if I took the second pill?"
There was a tense pause, in which time, Gojira felt his other arm pulsate and inflate alongside with his left pec, his body temporarily bulging out in an asymmetric pattern. "H-hello? Are you there?"
"Yes, Mr. Tanaka."
"Well? I-I need help!"
"You specifically ignored the instructions. You were told not to take the second pill."
Gojira snarled. "Oh come on, I can't possibly be the only person to do that!"
"Irrelevant, Mr. Tanaka. There's nothing to be done. You need to wait until the growth has gone its course."
"But, how much growth is there going to be? A-am I going to die?"
"Eventually, Mr. Tanaka. We never promised you immortality."
The hulking brute of a reptile growled deep out of frustration. "Are you enjoying this, you smarmy fuck?"
"You have to deal with the consequences of your actions, Mr. Tanaka. You were instructed not to take the second pill, and you took it."
"I need help! Come on, what do you want?" Gojira grunted, another jolt sending his head smacking against the ceiling, dislodging bits of plaster. "M-money? I'm worth millions! A-a fucking cameo? What?" Gojira's swollen arm pulsated, his forearm already thicker than what his thigh was mere minutes ago— the sudden spasm of so many overcharged tendons of muscle caused him to crush his phone. "Goddammit!"
Gojira let out a small groan as he looked around, the movement of his head starting to be restrained by the sheer brawn of his mountainous shoulders, his mammoth traps rising to peak over the top of his head, forcing him into a hunch. He realized he was quickly running out of room— and he might already be too big for the door. As he reached for the door, he pulled it off its hinges, nearly giving the secretary on the other side of the door a heart attack.
"Get me Max Rockford, tell him it's an emergency! Now!" Gojira roared.
It took hours coordinating between Gojira's personal trainer and a small building crew to get Gojira out of the studio with a minimum of damage. He was subjected to a series of far more unflattering pictures as he was escorted out— and worse, he caught Mai staring openly at him in sheer shock, mouth agape. Unable to get up to his own apartment as he exceeded the weight limit of the elevator by several hundred pounds, Gojira had rendered himself effectively homeless.
He sat staring out at nothing, leaning against a concrete wall he still wasn't sure was structurally sound enough for his weight at the back of Rockford's gym. He and Max had gone through a keg of beer to take the edge off the day's events— granted, Max had only gone through two drinks, and even after chugging the rest, Gojira was so huge, it didn't even faze him.
"...Did you get anything from my agent?" the reptile rumbled.
Max shook his head, the literal gym rat sighing. "I'm sorry, man— once she found out who I was, she made up some excuse and now I'm pretty sure she's screening my calls."
"Fuck. I'm blacklisted, aren't I?" Gojira said with resignation.
"Sorry, man." Max shook his head. The rat reached out, patting the enormous, heaving flank that was nearest to him. "If… it helps, your career in entertainment doesn't, uh… Necessarily have to be over… you could make a hell of a lot of money off OnlyFlex— you know, the uhm… Muscle appreciation site? I mean, fuck…" Max cast an eye over every over-exaggerated swell of muscle he could see— at this angle, he couldn't even see Gojira's face over all the brawn. "I'd pay to see you show off."
Gojira arched his brow, leaning forward to see past his heaving chest. "Are… you flirting with me?"
"I mean, dude, if you have to ask…"
Gojira gave a faint smile, patting the rat's head. "You're sweet. But I'm… not in the mood. Fuck, dude… I've lost… everything. And now I'm just this huge… freak."
"Bruh. Yesterday, I was the freak between the two of us." Max gently massaged the nearest bulge of muscle, Gojira's mountainous bicep. "Don't look at this as a flaw, look at it as an asset. There is no way in Hell this is all just show muscle— you're a one-man demolition crew. I mean— You are Godzilla, now."
Gojira perked up slightly, the slightest flex of his arm enough to spread Max's fingers as he rubbed the curve of his bicep. "...I guess I really am."
"Yeah, see? You've got this amazing strength and power now, you can use it. Without thinking, what's the first thing you want to do? First thing that comes to mind."
Gojira's eyes flashed with a vindictive thought. "...Get even with Ishiro."
"I— Wait, what?" Max asked.
Gojira looked down at the rat. "Yeah— that little fucker's been trying to ruin my career for years. I want to get even with him. I want him to pay. None of this would've happened without him sabotaging my career."
"I-I don't know if, uh, that's the most healthy thing in the world to focus on…"
"No, no, dude— You're on to something." Gojira heaved himself up to his feet, the ground trembling slightly as Max was left staring up at the moving mountain before him. "I've been acting like I'm powerless, but you just said it— I'm a one-man demolition crew." He glanced down, flashing a toothy grin at the rat. "I could crush him— No, no, too dark—" He snapped his fingers. "His house! I'll wreck up his house!"
"Dude, that's still a crime!" Max cried out. "What if he calls the cops?"
"Max— Buddy— Bro." Gojira grabbed the rat by the waist, pinning him between his swollen forearm and pulsing bicep, heaving him off his feet effortlessly. "What police are going to be able to stop me?"
Even with Gojira's complete meltdown and freak out, Ishiro was still determined to make his press conference and the launch of his movie a success— and so he had worked with the studio big wigs to bring out some of Tokyo's richest and most influential socialites to a party at his sprawling, ultra-modern mansion. The night was going well so far— the golden dragon was going to be the new face of the studio, and everyone wanted to be his friend. Though at the moment, he was mainly interested in kindly a friendship with Mai. If only she weren't so hung up on Gojira.
"Has no one heard from him?" She asked, running a finger around the rim of her glass. "I mean— did you see what he was like when he was walked out of the studio? He was so… big. Those… unnatural muscles, the way the concrete cracked when he stomped out… he was a brute." She stared out into space for a moment, then cleared her throat as she glanced back to the drake. "I'm just worried about him."
"Oh, Mai, baby, relax." Ishiro chuckled. "At that size, he could barely walk. Besides— even if he waddled his way here, I'm here to protect you." He purred, wrapping an arm around Mai's waist. "There's a new King on the throne."
"Ugh, Ishiro, you have three seconds to get your hands off of me, or I swear—"
Before Mai could finish, there was a sudden, loud thud, followed by the glasses on the nearby bar rattling. The ground shook again, another thud— Mai could see her drink rippling in the glass.
"Oh my God—" Mai looked up. "Is it an earthquake?"
"R-relax, I've got this, I've got this," Ishiro said, turning to face the party as a third, louder thud made the ground shake even more. "Folks! Ladies and gentlemen, everyone stay calm, move away from… the window…"
The gold drake trailed off, his mouth falling up as he saw an enormous figure moving forward and filling the panoramic window. An impossibly huge creature was moving forward, eyes glowing in a hot pink shade, spines running down a vast, continental-sized back also glowing with a strange, unearthly power. Every part of the creature's body was vastly oversized; his immense arms looked large as cars, and looked like they boasted just as much horsepower. His gigantic pillar-like legs rolled off one another, and the extraordinarily large equipment between them, shaking the ground under their heavy tread. The wingspan of his torso reached further out than some airplanes, abs so tightly packed together they bulged out in a concave curve, all under the shadow of a mammoth chest like a tank.
"Holy shit. I-is that—?"
Mai gasped. "Gojira."
Gojira wore a sadistic smirk as he crashed through the window, not even slowing his tempo. "Ishiro!" he bellowed in a deep, booming voice. "Looks like it's time for a party crasher!"
"O-oh my God! U-uh— Gojira! You need to leave, I-I… I'm calling security—"
Ishiro's quivering threat was cut off by Gojira's piercing roar, his meaty fist pound against his chest, one engorged bicep ramming against his meaty pecs— the glowing spikes flared, and a massive burst of neon pink plasma spewed out of Gojira's mouth, torching the ceiling. "Ho-oh my God!" Gojira chuckled deeply. I didn't even know I could do that!" He looked down, pointing one massive claw at Ishiro. "You. We got a score to settle, Ishiro!"
The gold drake let out a panicked scream— his hand on Mai's arm, he shoved the moth actress forward, to shield him and cover his escape as he scrambled for the exit.
"Ishiro!" Mai stumbled, falling to the ground. "Ishiro, you bastard!"
Gojira went on the rampage— the ceiling overhead began to crack from the heat as the massive reptile slammed his arm through the wall, sending concrete and steel flying. Ishiro's guests fled the scene, tripping over one another as the absolute beast before them took great pleasure in crushing Ishiro's marble bar flat, shattering his furniture and expensive toys, smashing his walls and laying waste to his cavernous home— it was as if everything around him was made of cardboard; nothing was safe or could withstand the sheer tidal wave of naked muscle that he represented. In mere moments, the impossibly muscular beast stood in the smoldering wreckage of Ishiro's home, and as he stomped forward, he spotted Mai, sprawled on the floor— she had stayed in rapt, breathless awe, watching his carnage with a quivering, desperate need to see more. Her chest heaved as he loomed over her, eclipsing everything around her, the vast curvature of his body illuminated by the irradiated flame surrounding them. Everywhere she looked, there was just more of him— impossibly strong and overwhelming in his enormity.
"Oh my God… Gojira! What… What are you doing?"
"Let's call it… an act of intent." He rumbled, leaning in closer until his chest pressed down against Mai. "And it's Godzilla, now. Just Godzilla. Tell me, Mai… You want to run with the real King of Monsters for a bit?"
"Oh my God, yes."
