That's a portable air conditioner. In the garage... Because it has been unsurvivably hot here this summer. Such that even when I do find time, it's a damn oven out there. Night time makes no difference. I decided to just grab one of these portable A/C contraptions to see how well it works, despite still having to do the insulation install (walls and attic are bare, so electric bill will probably be like 'echo $BANKBALANCE > /dev/null' but at this point I don't even care). Being the ovenish mini hell simulator that this garage is, it has no openings other than the main and side doors. So the side door got sacrificed for the A/C vent. That's fine, I never use it anyway. That was actually far easier than expected as I discovered that this EXTERIOR door is made of only foam and a mere whisper of fiberglass. Having discovered that, I don't feel as bad for hacking a jagged hole through it using all of the wrong tools. So how does the A/C perform? I'm not even sure yet because our fiery death from above has been most graciously replaced with daily torrential downpours since I completed the install. However, based on early testing it seems promising! Hopefully it can beat the serious heat. As long as the thing can get this space somewhat close to a survivable temp, it will do for now. I should have bit the bullet earlier, though our summers can last well into October here so it will still be a benefit. Insulation and a mini-split unit are still going to be in the future, possibly this coming winter.
For the next video, think I'll check out that weird "Commodore" PC from 2006ish and see if we can unravel the mystery of its origin. I'm about to go dig into it right now. Didn't realize quite how much of a cure for depression doing things like this is, because I've been spiraling into madness over being unable to... Summer is definitely becoming my LEAST favorite season! I'll be posting the clues I find on the "Commodore", just in case anyone wants to join the hunt for info (which seems exceptionally scarce). Spoiler forewarning.
